Zhang Baoren, the general manager of Changchun Healthy Vegetarian Restaurant Chain, comes from a family that sold vegetables. While studying at Cheng Kung University Affiliated Senior Industrial Vocational School, he worked part-time and helped with the family finances by washing dishes at a buffet restaurant. After being an apprentice in a Sichuan cuisine restaurant, he decided against killing animals for food and was advised by his grandmother to pursue vegetarian dining. After completing his military service, he continued to work in the restaurant industry. Driven by a passion for food, he began by washing dishes, passed the Chinese culinary certification exams for both junior and intermediate levels, and eventually started his own business as a restaurant owner.
