Kaohsiung A-Po Ice Introduction
One of the most representative snacks in Kaohsiung is "Apoza Ice," which has been in operation since 1934, boasting over 70 years of history. The owner, known as Apoza, is originally named Tsai Gu, and the shop was initially called "Xin Sheng Hao Ice Shop." Kaohsiung female high school students affectionately nicknamed the owner "Apoza," leading to the shop's name change. The walls of the store are adorned with black-and-white photos of Apoza's pickled plums, and now in its third generation, under Tsai Yuan-yi, the shop continues to adhere to the principle of using high-quality ingredients and handcrafting ice products without adding any colorings or flavorings. From the selection of materials to the pickling process, everything is done by hand, which is why it is beloved by the people of Kaohsiung. The most popular creation is Apo Ice, which boasts a vibrant purple color from fresh dragon fruit, paired with various seasonal fruits. The four-fruit ice, composed of pickled plums, starfruit, pineapple, and green mango, is especially refreshing with its sweet and sour flavor.
