Nong Lai Small Table Introduction
"Long Lai, Small Dining Table" on Wufeng North Road serves traditional Taiwanese home-cooked dishes with a modern twist. The restaurant features a mural wall that represents a landmark of Chiayi at its entrance. The owners, not originally from Chiayi, fell in love with this city beneath Alishan and decided to settle down here. The restaurant's space is filled with unique elements of nostalgic Taiwanese style, which has become a reminiscence for older generations and is perceived as modern vintage by the younger crowd. Long Lai specializes in home-style set meals, with the owner purchasing fresh ingredients daily at the market. Nearly all of their signature sauces, including soy sauce, chili oil, and pickled vegetables are homemade. The popular "Thai-style Lemon Fish" stands out due to the fresh fish and their own version of Thai sauce, along with the highly sought "Private Beef Pot" and the "Private Plum Roast Chicken" made with homemade pickled plums each year. Despite being located inside a building, the restaurant design proudly showcases a Taiwanese street style. Since opening in 2020, the restaurant has attracted young customers who enjoyed the food and brought their families for meals, perfectly aligning with its original goal of creating a family-friendly restaurant that conveys Taiwanese flavors and generational fusion.
