Nong Lai Small Table Introduction
"Nong Lai, Small Dining Table" on Wufeng North Road offers a blend of traditional and trendy home-style Taiwanese dishes made fresh daily. The restaurant features a mural wall representing the landmark of Chiayi, even though the owner couple are not from Chiayi; they decided to settle here because of their love for this city under Alishan. The space is infused with unique Taiwanese old-school elements, reminiscing the youth of mature patrons and presenting a modern vintage aesthetic to the younger generation. Nong Lai specializes in home-style set meals, with the owner personally visiting the market every day for fresh ingredients, and making almost all of their signature sauces in-house, such as soy sauce, chili oil, and pickled vegetables. Popular dishes include "Thai-style Lemon Fish," which relies on fresh fish and their homemade Taiwanese-style Thai sauce, as well as the must-try "Private Beef Pot," which is a guaranteed hit, and "Private Plum Chicken," cooked with plums pickled in-house every year. Located in a building, Nong Lai’s design emphasizes a Taiwanese street food vibe. Since opening in 2020, many young customers have loved it so much that they brought their families for meals, perfectly embodying the original intention of creating a family restaurant that conveys the taste of Taiwan and integrates generations.
