Shu Xia Shaved Ice & Dango Specialty Store Introduction
The owner of Shuxia Shaved Ice and Dango Specialty Store is a member of the generation born in the 1970s. He mentioned that during that time there was no Korean Wave, only a fascination with Japanese culture. After adulthood, he traveled to Japan 13 times in ten years, and what he couldn't forget was the dango he tasted in the old streets of Kyoto and Nara. Returning to Taiwan, he tried various restaurants that offered dango, but the texture was similar to Taiwanese glutinous rice balls, known as "baiyu." He decided to make it himself! After consulting Japanese friends and conducting continuous experiments, he found the best ratio of glutinous rice mixed with non-glutinous rice and paired it with his own sauces, finally recreating the texture of the dango he remembered from Japan. In addition to the classic soy sauce flavor, he also developed a seasonal fruit series, surprisingly discovering that peaches and Japanese dango could actually pair well together. Shuxia Shaved Ice emphasizes its "Japanese DNA," evoking memories of travel: the azure sky over Mount Fuji, Uji Kintoki in Kyoto, thick milk roasted tea in Nara, milky cocoa in Tokyo, fragrant lemon in Hiroshima, and even the eerie darkness of black grass in Megijima...
