The owner of Shuxia Shaved Ice and Dango Specialty Store is a member of the post-70s generation. He mentioned that back then there was no Korean wave, only the "Japanophile" culture. After becoming an adult, he visited Japan 13 times in 10 years, and what he couldn't forget was the dango he had in the old streets of Kyoto and Nara. Returning to Taiwan, he tried various dango offered by different restaurants, but the texture was similar to the Taiwanese "bawan." He decided to make it himself! He consulted with Japanese friends, and after continuous experimentation, he found the best ratio of glutinous rice mixed with non-glutinous rice, paired with his own sauce, ultimately recreating the taste of the dango he remembered from Japan. In addition to the classic soy sauce flavor, he also developed a seasonal fruit series, surprisingly finding that peaches pair very well with Japanese dango. Shuxia Shaved Ice emphasizes its Japanese DNA, evoking memories of travel: the blue sky over Mount Fuji, Uji matcha in Kyoto, thick milk roasted tea in Nara, caramel milk in Tokyo, fragrant lemon in Hiroshima, and even the eerie black grass from the night of Onigashima...
