Taiwan Tile Museum Introduction
The Taiwan Tile Museum has recently become a must-visit attraction for travelers coming to Chiayi City. It is one of the rare museums in the world dedicated to the theme of floral tiles, housing a collection of 1,500 pieces of various types of Taiwanese floral tiles. Flowers tiles, which have played an anonymous yet significant role in Taiwan's architectural development history, have for over a century been used by wealthy merchants to adorn their homes and showcase their family's wealth. Over the past 20 years, the museum has rescued, restored, and preserved more than 4,000 pieces of century-old floral tiles from traditional Taiwanese houses, showcasing the architectural art of floral tiles from 1915 to 1935 in Taiwan. The Taiwan Tile Museum has also gained international attention in recent years, including collaborations with the well-known spa operator "SPAWORLD" in Osaka, Japan, which hired a team of Taiwanese craftsmen to design and produce 5,500 pieces of floral tiles for a floral tile space; coverage by Japan's NHK television station featuring the Taiwan Tile Museum and a special on the export of floral tile products to Japan; and the launch of a limited edition skincare product by Sulwhasoo, a top South Korean skincare brand, featuring Taiwanese floral tiles for charity. The museum has been selected by the Presidential Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as diplomatic gifts for Taiwan, and it is filled with world-class valuable floral tile culture worth exploring.
