Taiwan Tile Museum Introduction
The Taiwan Tile Museum has become a must-visit attraction for travelers in Chiayi City in recent years. This is one of the few museums in the world dedicated to the theme of decorative tiles, with a collection of 1,500 pieces of various types of Taiwanese tiles. In the history of architectural development in Taiwan, decorative tiles have served as unsung heroes, having been a method used by wealthy merchants for over a century to embellish their homes and highlight their family's wealth. Over more than 20 years, the ancient houses of Taiwanese decorative tiles have rescued, restored, and preserved over 4,000 pieces of century-old tiles, showcasing the architectural art of decorative tiles in Taiwan from 1915 to 1935. In recent years, the Taiwan Tile Museum has also attracted international attention, including a collaboration with the renowned Japanese spa operator "SPAWORLD," which commissioned a team of Taiwanese artisans to design and produce 5,500 tiles to create a decorative tile space; Japan's NHK television broadcast a feature on the Taiwan Tile Museum and the import of decorative tile products to Japan; and South Korea's top skincare brand Sulwhasoo launched a public welfare limited edition skincare product inspired by Taiwanese decorative tiles. The museum has also been selected by the Presidential Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as diplomatic gifts for Taiwan. The museum is filled with world-class precious tile culture that is worth exploring. Photo provided by the Taiwan Tile Museum.
