King Butterfly Coffee is undoubtedly a leading figure in Chiayi’s coffee scene. One of the significant events in the Chiayi coffee circle in 2019 was the grand return of Roi Cafe, King Butterfly. The artistic owner made a comeback that fans had eagerly anticipated, setting up in the second floor of the "Hardware Warehouse," located in the Chiayi Cultural and Creative Park. The Hardware Warehouse, built in 1930, was once the tallest building in Chiayi City and is currently listed as a designated historic site. To present a deep color and texture akin to a classical oil painting, the designer adjusted the colors multiple times under different lighting conditions until satisfied. When the afternoon sunlight shines through the flat windows, the light and shadows on the red walls resemble the gleaming Bordeaux wine under light, making it one of the most beautiful coffee spots in Taiwan! In recent years, King Butterfly Coffee has invested in a more professional roasting upgrade. The coffee beans come from various major production areas around the world, including a small amount of Ali Mountain coffee. The owner, Mr. Wu, is a photographer by profession and one of the most skilled coffee roasters in Chiayi. He believes that the coffee shop's main offerings should be abstract, merely expressed through the tangible nature of coffee.
