The King Butterfly Coffee is definitely a leader in the Chiayi coffee scene. One of the significant events in the Chiayi coffee circle in 2019 was the grand return of Roi Cafe, the King Butterfly. The artistic owner made a comeback, and under the anticipation of fans, moved into the second floor of the "Hardware Warehouse" in the Chiayi Cultural and Creative Park. This warehouse, built in 1930, was once the tallest building in Chiayi City and is currently listed as a city-designated historic site. To present the deep colors and textures akin to classical oil paintings, the designer adjusted the hues multiple times under different lighting conditions, achieving satisfaction. Every afternoon, as the slanting sun reflects through the flat windows, the light and shadows on the red walls resemble the shining Bordeaux red wine under the lights, making it the "most beautiful" winery coffee in Taiwan! In recent years, King Butterfly Coffee has invested in more professional roasting upgrades, sourcing coffee beans from major producing areas worldwide, as well as a small amount of Alishan coffee. The proprietor, Mr. Wu, originally a photographer, is also one of the most professional coffee roasters in Chiayi. He believes that the main offering of a coffee shop should be abstract, presented through the tangible substance of coffee.
