King Butterfly Coffee Introduction
King Butterfly Café is undoubtedly a leading figure in the Chiayi coffee scene. One of the major events in the Chiayi coffee circle in 2019 was the heavy return of Roi Café, King Butterfly. The artful boss returned with a touch of nostalgia, setting up in the Chiayi Cultural and Creative Park's "Hardware Warehouse" on the second floor, exuding a matured flavor from ten years of refinement. The Hardware Warehouse, built in 1930, was once the tallest building in Chiayi City and is now listed as a municipal historic site. In order to present a depth of color and texture akin to a classical oil painting, the designer adjusted the hues multiple times under different lighting conditions until satisfied. Every afternoon, when the slanting sunlight shines through the wide windows, the light and shadows on the red walls resemble the glimmering Bordeaux red wine under bright lights, making it the most "breathtaking" winery coffee in Taiwan! In recent years, King Butterfly Café has invested in a more professional roasting upgrade, sourcing coffee beans from major production areas around the world, along with a small amount from Alishan. The owner, Old Wu, is a photographer by profession and one of the most skilled coffee roasters in Chiayi. He believes that the main product in a café should be abstract, merely presented through the tangible medium of coffee.
