Douhua Old Shop - The Flavor Remains Introduction
This snack shop located at No. 151, Guogou Dong'an Village, Budai Township, is right next to a local Cheng Huang Temple. The shop has only two sets of simple tables and chairs, a stall, and a thirty-year-old old menu (signboard). The snacks offered are just three: black tea, mung bean soup, and douhua (tofu pudding). Although these are three simple desserts, there is a lot of craftsmanship involved. The douhua is handmade, both chewy and soft, and the syrup is simmered for an entire day and night, resulting in an exceptional aroma and sweetness. Each mung bean in the mung bean soup is soft and tender, not too hard and not too soft, providing an excellent texture.
