Checheng Winery Introduction
Checheng Winery is located in Checheng Village, Shui Li Township, Nantou County, and officially opened on April 20, 2003. The main members are farmers focused on plum cultivation, part of the third class of fruit tree production and marketing from the Shui Li Township Farmers' Association. Under the technical guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture, they transformed from traditional agriculture to refined agriculture. At the beginning of the winery's establishment, the original factory site was severely damaged by Typhoon Taisan at the end of July 2001, which destroyed the existing buildings, equipment, and products due to landslides, leading to the consideration of abandoning the winery project. Ultimately, with the assistance of the Shui Li Township Farmers' Association, the participation scope was expanded from the third class of fruit tree production members to include plum farmers within the Shui Li Township area, allowing the establishment of "Checheng Winery" in the beautifully praised Checheng community, known as "The Last Train Station" and "Secret Garden," and enabling the continuation of the delightful flavors of the "plum" hometown. The area is tranquil, beautiful, and safe, surrounded by mountains and forests, with the continuously flowing Shui Li Creek in front and lush green mountains and trees behind. To the left lies the Ming Tan Hydroelectric Plant, the largest pumped-storage power plant in Asia, while to the right offers a bird's-eye view of the "Last Train Station," known as Checheng Train Station, and the beautiful railway scenery. Other attractions include "Old Street, Cable Car, Timber Storage Pond, Red-tiled Houses, Ancient Buildings, Old Lumber Factories, Coal-fired Train Water Towers, Checheng Elementary School..." and more.
