Checheng Winery Introduction
Checheng Winery is located in Checheng Village, Shui Li Township, Nantou County, and officially opened on April 20, 2003. The main members are farmers focused on growing plums, specifically the third group of fruit tree production and marketing from the Shui Li Township Farmers' Association. Under the technical guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture, they transformed from traditional agriculture to refined agriculture. At the initial stage of establishing the winery, the old factory site suffered significant damage from Typhoon Taujh in late July 2001, destroying the original factory, equipment, and products due to mudslides. There was consideration to abandon the winery project. Ultimately, with the assistance of the Shui Li Township Farmers' Association, the scope of stock participation was expanded from the third group of fruit tree production members to plum farmers within Shui Li Township. This led to the establishment of "Checheng Winery" in the community acclaimed as the "Last Train Station" and "Secret Garden," allowing the continuation of the delicious flavors from the hometown of plums. It is quiet, beautiful, and safe, surrounded by mountains and forests, with the flowing Shui Li River in front and lush green hills behind. On the left is the Ming Tan pumped storage power station, the largest in Asia, while on the right, one can overlook the Checheng Train Station, known as the "Last Train Station," and the beautiful railway scenery. Additionally, nearby attractions include the "Old Street, Heaven Car, Logging Pond, Red Tile Houses, Ancient Buildings, Old Wood Factory, Coal-Fired Train Water Tower, Checheng Elementary School," and more, contributing to the charm of Checheng.
