Checheng Winery Introduction
Checheng Winery is located in Checheng Village, Shuili Township, Nantou County, and officially opened on April 20, 2003. The main members consist of farmers primarily engaged in plum cultivation, known as the Third Class of Fruit Tree Marketing at the Shuili Township Farmers' Association. With technical guidance from the Ministry of Agriculture, the traditional agricultural model has been transformed into a refined agricultural practice. At the initial preparation stage for the establishment of the winery, the original site suffered severe damage due to the Typhoon Morakot in late July 2009, resulting in the destruction of the existing buildings, equipment, and products by mudslides. There was a consideration to abandon the winery project. Ultimately, with assistance from the Shuili Township Farmers' Association, the scope of participation was expanded from just the members of the Third Class of Fruit Tree Marketing to include all plum farmers within Shuili Township, which enabled the establishment of "Checheng Winery" in the picturesque Checheng community, renowned as the "Last Train Station" and "Secret Garden," continuing the delightful flavors from the homeland of plums. Surrounded by tranquil, beautiful, and safe mountains and forests, the winery overlooks the flowing Shuili River in front, lush green hills behind, the largest pumped storage hydroelectric plant in Asia (Mingtan Power Station) to the left, and a stunning view of the "Last Train Station," Checheng Station, and its beautiful railway scenery to the right. Additionally, nearby attractions include "Old Street, Sky Lift, Log Storage Pool, Red-tile Houses, Old Buildings, Wooden Industry Factories, Coal-Fired Train Water Towers, and Checheng Elementary School…" among others, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty of Checheng.
