Dong Yi Cheng Nostalgic Tangerine Store Introduction

Founded in 1959 by Kang Wan-sheng and Hsu An-mien (the current owner, Grandma A-mien), "Dong Yi Cheng Store" is a grocery store that sells cigarettes, alcohol, tea, rice, oil, salt, canned salted fish, everyday goods, candy, and cookies, offering a wider and more diverse selection than today's convenience stores. The period from the late 1960s to the 1980s was the heyday of Dong Yi Cheng Store, when it served as the main ticketing location for Changhua Bus Company in Puli, with many customers coming to buy tickets for travel to Changhua or Lugang. While modern Taiwanese often prefer shopping at convenience stores, PX Mart, or large supermarkets, they miss the warmth of human interaction. This human touch is the greatest motivation for Grandma A-mien to continue running the old store; she enjoys chatting with young customers and greeting her neighbors. After over 60 years, Dong Yi Cheng Store remains a place that sells warmth! Retail of snacks & souvenirs features: The only nostalgic grocery store in Puli with a 60-year history, a warm cultural tourism information center. The only postal agency in Taiwan named after "Dong Yi Cheng," selling Taiwanese stamps & special postal booklets. The only cultural and creative souvenir exhibition center at Puli Station, showcasing Sun Moon Lake & Puli postcards. Free visits: The attached Dongmen Story Museum displays old photos & everyday items of Puli. An attached art souvenir store sells art albums and reproductions of Taiwan's national treasure watercolor painter Sun Shao-ying. Free items: Tourist maps of the Greater Puli area, discount information for scenic spots, hotel coupons, and more.
