The banner of "Meiren O-Ah" flutters in the breeze at the Chaotian Temple square in Qingshui, attracting the attention of tourists. Why is it named "Meiren"? This has been a question in everyone's mind. It turns out that the owner is named "Chen Meinu," using her name as the stall's name, which is straightforward and also leaves room for imagination. Chen Meinu was originally a salt worker at the Qigu salt fields. When the salt fields were fully decommissioned in 2002, it marked the end of the salt industry in Taiwan and left all salt workers unemployed. While working at the salt fields, she used to sell grilled shrimp, and after the salt fields were no longer operational, she often thought about starting a business to supplement her household income. Until 2007, when the Yanfeng Bridge connecting Qingshui and the fan-shaped salt fields was rebuilt, workers would come to drink and chat after work at night. Chen Meinu then made fried oyster cakes as snacks for the workers and named her stall "Meiren O-Ah" using her own name. She also used grilled shrimp to prepare grilled shrimp noodles as meals for the workers.
