Mountain and Sea Family Introduction
Shanhai Yijia, located on the slopes of Qingfan Village, is an ordinary-looking off-white building that holds many significant historical stories and bitter memories of Xiju Island. In 1949, with the fall of the mainland, over 4,200 young men formed a guerrilla unit to defend this area, but the Ministry of National Defense only allocated rations for 1,257 personnel. Under such harsh conditions, the guerrilla unit became self-sufficient and conducted multiple raids on the opposite shore, resulting in over 2,000 casualties and a tragic sacrifice. In 1950, with the outbreak of the Korean War, U.S. intelligence units, operating under the alias Western Company, stationed here to train the East Sea Forces in gathering intelligence and conducting guerrilla operations against the mainland. The headquarters of the Western Company and the East Sea Forces at that time was located within Shanhai Yijia. Now slowly transforming into a café, Shanhai Yijia has stood for over sixty years, witnessing the fading of the brave souls who once fought, while it quietly remains on the hillside of Qingfan, witnessing that tumultuous period woven with blood and tears.
