Mountain and Sea One Family Introduction
Shanhai Yijia is built on the hill above Qingfan Village, an outwardly unremarkable milky-white building. However, it carries many important historical stories and poignant memories from Xiju Island. In 1949, after the mainland fell, over 4,200 brave soldiers formed a guerrilla team to defend this area. At that time, the Ministry of National Defense was only willing to allocate rations for 1,257 people. In such harsh conditions, the guerrilla team became self-sufficient and launched several raids on the opposite shore, resulting in the loss of over 2,000 soldiers, a tragically severe toll. In 1950, with the outbreak of the Korean War, an American intelligence unit, operating under the name "Western Company," was stationed here to train the East Sea Forces for intelligence gathering and guerrilla work against the mainland. The headquarters of the Eastern Sea Forces and the Western Company at that time were located within Shanhai Yijia. Now slowly transforming into a café, Shanhai Yijia has stood for over sixty years. The brave soldiers of that time are gradually disappearing, leaving Shanhai Yijia quietly standing on the slope of Qingfan Mountain, a witness to that turbulent period of intertwined blood and tears.
