Caipao Bay Introduction
Caipu Harbor is located in the northeastern part of Xiju Island, under the jurisdiction of Tianwo Village. The harbor is named after its abundant production of nori (a type of seaweed). The rights to the nori harvested from a large coastal reef known as "Caipu Imprint" are managed by the Chen Yuanshuai Temple Management Committee. During the nori harvesting season, the committee publicly holds bidding for collection rights, and only the winning bidders are allowed to collect nori from the reef. The natural landscape along Caipu Harbor is characterized by typical granitic conical formations, with significant undulations and steep terrain. The granite veins radiate into the sea, creating valleys and bays of varying sizes. The hard granite is subject to weathering and erosion from waves, resulting in cliffs, hazardous reefs, and a highly diverse coastal topography. Caipu Harbor is not only an important tourist attraction in Juguang Township but also one of the best fishing spots favored by anglers, thanks to its rich fishery resources and the variations in ocean currents.
