Fish Road Historical Trail Introduction
The historical trail connecting Dapu and Daping, known as the "Fish Path" or "Lower Bottom Path," has a history of over a hundred years. It served as an important route for fishermen from Dapu to transport their catch to Daping during times of hardship. To make a living, the residents of the two villages traversed between Daping and Dapu. With the decline of the fishing industry, the ancient path once became a ruin due to the outmigration of the population. However, with the cooperation of the Dongjun Community Development Association and Dongjun Elementary School, residents worked together to clear weeds, plant trees, and restore the ancient path, transforming it into an ecological park. The ecology along the ancient path is incredibly rich, with various migratory birds and butterflies bringing surprises with each seasonal change. Native plants add different colors to the path throughout the four seasons. In September each year, red spider lilies bloom abundantly along the slopes and paths of the ancient trail; in October, visitors can savor the sweet milky flavor of "jujube" fruit; and in November, clusters of yellow goldenrods resemble a golden carpet. In recent years, the Dongjun Community Association has begun updating the forest landscape. In addition to native spider lilies, they are also reviving Matsu's lilies and pear trees, along with planting peach blossoms, cherry blossoms, and passion fruit trees, hoping to bring more diversity to the ancient path. The Fish Path originally had two exits. Starting from Dapu, one can walk straight to Daping Village or take a turn at the fish-drying site to reach Mengao Harbor by passing through "Pu Zuo" (now the area around the power plant). Taking a walk along the ancient trail allows one to experience the hardships that our ancestors endured as they carried burdens along the way.
