Fish Path Ancient Trail Introduction
The historical path connecting Dapu and Daping, known as the "Fish Path" or "Lower Bottom Road," has a history of over a century. This path served as an important route for fishermen from Dapu to transport their catches to Daping for sale during difficult times when resources were scarce, as residents of both settlements traveled back and forth between Daping and Dapu in search of sustenance. Now that the fishing industry has declined, the ancient path had become a ruin due to population outmigration from the two villages. However, with the collaboration of the Dongjue Community Development Association and Dongjue Elementary School, residents worked together to clear weeds and plant trees, restoring the appearance of the ancient path and transforming it into an ecological park. The ecology along the path is remarkably rich, with various migratory birds and butterflies bringing surprises with the changing seasons. Various native plants add a range of colors to the ancient path throughout the year. In September, the red flower lilies bloom abundantly along the hillside trails; in October, visitors can enjoy the sweet, milky flavor of "Zheguo"; in November, clusters of yellow chamomile resemble a golden carpet. In recent years, the Dongjue Community Association has also begun updating the forest landscape. In addition to the native lilies, they have started to rehabilitate the Matsu lily and the pear tree, planting peach blossoms, cherry blossoms, and passion fruit, hoping to bring more diversity to the ancient path. The Fish Path originally had two exits: starting from Dapu, one could walk straight to Daping Village, while a detour at the fish drying area through "Puzuo" (near the power plant today) leads to Mengao Harbor. Taking a walk along this ancient path provides a glimpse into the hardships faced by ancestors who carried burdens along the way.
