Fish Path Historic Trail Introduction
The historical trail connecting Dapu and Daping, known as the "Fish Road" or "Xiadil Road," has a history of over a hundred years. It served as a crucial route for fishermen from Dapu to transport their catch to Daping during times of hardship. To make a living, the residents of both settlements traveled back and forth between Daping and Dapu. Today, as the fishing industry has declined, the ancient path briefly became a ruin due to the migration of people from both villages. However, through the collaboration of the Dongju Community Development Association and Dongju Elementary School, the residents joined forces to clear weeds and plant trees, restoring the trail and transforming it into an ecological park. The ecology along the trail is incredibly rich, with various migratory birds and butterflies bringing surprises at every turn as the seasons change. Diverse native plants paint the trail with colors throughout the year. In September, the red spider lilies bloom extravagantly along the hillside paths; in October, visitors can savor the sweet milk fragrance of "Zheguo"; and in November, clusters of yellow golden chrysanthemum resemble a golden carpet. In recent years, the Dongju Community Association has also begun updating the forest landscape. In addition to the native spider lilies, they have started to restore the Matsu lily and the pear trees, as well as planting peach blossoms, cherry blossoms, and passion fruit trees, hoping to bring more diversity to the trail. The Fish Road originally had two exits. Walking straight from Dapu leads directly to Daping village, while a turn at the fish drying area and passing through "Puzuo" (near the power plant today) can lead to Mengao Harbor. Taking a trip along the ancient path allows one to experience the hardships faced by the ancestors who carried burdens along the way.
