魚路古道

The historical trail connecting Dapu and Daping, known as the "Yulu Ancient Trail" or "Xiadilu," has a history of over a hundred years. It serves as an important route for fishermen in Dapu to transport their catch to Daping for sale during the hard times when resources were scarce. Residents of both settlements would tirelessly travel between Daping and Dapu in search of a means of livelihood. Today, with the decline of the fishing industry, the ancient trail had once become a ruin due to the population exodus from both villages. However, with the collaboration of the Dongju Community Development Association and Dongju Elementary School, residents have worked together to clear weeds, plant trees, and restore the trail, transforming it into an ecological park. The ecology along the trail is incredibly rich, with various migratory birds and butterflies bringing surprises with each seasonal change. The indigenous plants add vibrant colors to the trail throughout the seasons. Every September, the red flowers of the Lycoris radiata bloom abundantly along the hillside paths; in October, visitors can indulge in the sweet milky aroma of "Zheguo" (Chinese waxberry); and in November, clusters of small yellow chrysanthemum resemble a golden carpet. In recent years, the Dongju Community Association has also begun reforestation efforts. In addition to the native Lycoris, they have been reintroducing Matsu lilies and box pears, as well as planting peach, cherry, and passion fruit trees, hoping to bring more diversity to the ancient trail. The Yulu Ancient Trail originally had two exits, with a direct path from Dapu leading to Daping Village.

Fish Road Historical Trail Introduction

The historical trail connecting Dapu and Daping, known as the "Fish Path" or "Lower Bottom Path," has a history of over a hundred years. It served as an important route for fishermen from Dapu to transport their catch to Daping during times of hardship. To make a living, the residents of the two villages traversed between Daping and Dapu. With the decline of the fishing industry, the ancient path once became a ruin due to the outmigration of the population. However, with the cooperation of the Dongjun Community Development Association and Dongjun Elementary School, residents worked together to clear weeds, plant trees, and restore the ancient path, transforming it into an ecological park. The ecology along the ancient path is incredibly rich, with various migratory birds and butterflies bringing surprises with each seasonal change. Native plants add different colors to the path throughout the four seasons. In September each year, red spider lilies bloom abundantly along the slopes and paths of the ancient trail; in October, visitors can savor the sweet milky flavor of "jujube" fruit; and in November, clusters of yellow goldenrods resemble a golden carpet. In recent years, the Dongjun Community Association has begun updating the forest landscape. In addition to native spider lilies, they are also reviving Matsu's lilies and pear trees, along with planting peach blossoms, cherry blossoms, and passion fruit trees, hoping to bring more diversity to the ancient path. The Fish Path originally had two exits. Starting from Dapu, one can walk straight to Daping Village or take a turn at the fish-drying site to reach Mengao Harbor by passing through "Pu Zuo" (now the area around the power plant). Taking a walk along the ancient trail allows one to experience the hardships that our ancestors endured as they carried burdens along the way.
