The valley reservoir along the coastline next to the station offers a magnificent view of the entire Le Dao Ao Reservoir from the high point of the Northern Circular Road. Le Dao Ao Reservoir is located to the north of Xiju Island, about one-third to the left of the top edge of an upside-down triangle. Initially, it is an open valley oriented northeast, which later turns north. The valley mouth is silted, forming an inlet called Lao Dao Ao. Due to the undesirable name, it was later renamed for its phonetic similarity to "Le Dao Ao." To address the long-standing drought in Xiju and the shortage of water sources on the island, residents dug wells for water, but it still wasn't sufficient for daily use. Therefore, the military chose to construct a dam in this valley to capture water, with the assistance of stationed soldiers during the construction. This reservoir serves functions for livelihood, defense, and irrigation, covering a catchment area of approximately 12 hectares. Today, Le Dao Ao has become a great place for residents to enjoy the beautiful bay scenery and the nearby mountains. When the weather is clear, the information board at the Northern Circular Road is an excellent spot to appreciate the landscapes of the mainland and the sunset. Along the circular route, there are scattered abandoned outposts, some with stairways down to the coast beside lookout points, making them great destinations for exploration and discovery.

Lao Dao Ao Introduction

The valley reservoir along the coast next to the station offers a distant view of the entire Lekdao Ao Reservoir from the high points of the North Circular Road. The Lekdao Ao Reservoir is located in the northern part of Xij island, about one-third to the left of the top side of the inverted triangle. Initially an open valley facing northeast, it later turned northward, but the mouth of the valley has accumulated silt, forming the estuary called Laodao Ao. Due to the unsightly name, it was later renamed "Lekdao Ao" for its phonetic similarity. To address the chronic drought and water scarcity on Xij, residents were digging wells for water, which were insufficient for daily needs. As a result, the military decided to build a dam in this valley to collect water, with construction assistance from stationed soldiers. This reservoir serves multiple functions: it supports civilian life, defense needs, and irrigation, with a catchment area of about 12 hectares. Today, Lekdao Ao has become a great place for residents to enjoy the beautiful views of the bay and the surrounding mountains. On clear days, the signboard along the North Circular Road is an excellent spot to appreciate the mainland's scenery and the sunset. Along the circular road, abandoned outposts are scattered, and some observation posts have steps leading down to the coast, making them great places for exploration and discovery.
