The valley reservoir by the coast can be seen from a high point on the North Circular Road, offering a panoramic view of Le Dao Ao Reservoir. Le Dao Ao Reservoir is located to the north of Xiju Island, about one-third from the left of the top edge of its inverted triangle shape. Initially an open valley facing northeast, it later turns northward. The valley's mouth has silt accumulation, forming a bay called Lao Dao Ao, which later had its name changed to Le Dao Ao due to the original name's unpleasant connotation. To address the perennial drought in Xiju and the shortage of water resources on the island, residents dug wells for water, but it was still insufficient for daily needs. Therefore, the military decided to build a dam in this valley to capture water, with soldiers assisting in the construction. This reservoir serves the functions of civil use, military defense, and irrigation, with a catchment area of approximately 12 hectares. Today, Le Dao Ao has become a popular spot for residents to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the bay and the nearby mountains. On sunny days, the sign along the North Circular Road serves as an excellent location to admire mainland landscapes and sunsets. Along the circular road, there are also abandoned military outposts, with some sentry posts having steps leading down to the coast, making them great places for exploration and discovery.

Lao Dao Ao Introduction

This reservoir serves multiple functions including civilian use, defense, and irrigation, with a catchment area of approximately 12 hectares. Today, Le Dao Ao has become a great spot for residents to enjoy the beautiful bay scenery and nearby mountain views.
