Lao Dao Ao Introduction
The valley reservoir along the coastline near the station offers a distant view of the full landscape of Le Dao Ao Reservoir from the heights of the North Circular Road. Le Dao Ao Reservoir is located to the north of Xiju Island, about one-third of the way from the left side of the top edge of a triangular shape. It is an open valley that initially faces northeast and later turns north. The mouth of the valley has silt accumulation, forming a cove called Lao Dao Ao. Due to its unsuitable name, it was later renamed based on its phonetics to "Le Dao Ao." To address the long-term drought and water shortages on Xiju Island, where residents found that well water was still insufficient for daily use, the military chose to build a dam in this valley area to capture water, with the assistance of stationed troops in the construction. This reservoir serves multiple functions including civilian use, defense, and irrigation, with a catchment area of approximately 12 hectares. Today, Le Dao Ao has become a great spot for residents to enjoy the beautiful bay scenery and nearby mountain views. On clear days, the interpretation sign along the North Circular Road also offers an excellent vantage point to appreciate the mountains of the mainland and the sunset. Along the circular road, abandoned outposts are scattered, some with steps leading down to the coast, making them great places for exploration and adventure.
