Bishan Viewpoint Introduction

Bishan stands at an elevation of 298 meters and, while it is the highest mountain in the Matsu region, it is quite suitable for beginner climbers. The mountain is dotted with fortifications, and the command center at the highest point serves as the core of defense for Beigan, working in conjunction with Nangan to control the entire Matsu sea area, making it one of the military strongholds in the Matsu Islands. Due to the command center's location at the summit, the Bishan military camp remains heavily guarded, but it has been opened to the public for visits. Alongside the road below the Beigan command center, there is an observation deck, which is the best vantage point in Beigan. On clear, cloudless days, one can gaze out at the village of Houao located at the foot of Dawoshan, the coastal Beigan Airport, the pristine Tanghou Beach, the bustling Tangqi Street, as well as the nearby islands of Luoshan, Bangshan, Wuming Island, Qiaotou, Daqiu, and Xiaoqiu—all visible at a glance; during fog season, the mountain peak shrouded in thick mist seems ethereal, as if one has stepped into a fairyland, deeply immersed in the void.
