Bishan Scenic Area Introduction

Bishan has an elevation of 298 meters, making it the highest mountain in the Matsu area, but it is quite suitable for beginner hikers. The mountain is lined with bunkers, with the command post at the highest point serving as the core of defense for Beigan, working in conjunction with Nangan to control the entire Matsu sea area, making it one of the military strongholds of the Matsu Islands. Due to the command post being located at the summit, the Bishan Military Camp remains heavily guarded, although it is open for public visits. Along the highway beneath the Beigan command post, there is a viewing platform, which is the best lookout point in Beigan. On clear days, visitors can gaze out to see Hou'ao Village located below Dawoshan, the coastal Beigan Airport, the pristine Tanghou Beach, the bustling Tangqi Street, and nearby islands such as Luoshan, Banshan, Wuming Island, Qiaotou, Daqiu, and Xiaoqiu, all within sight. During misty seasons, the mountaintop shrouded in thick fog appears ethereal, as if one has entered a celestial realm, deep into the void.
