Bishan Viewpoint Introduction
Bishan has an elevation of 298 meters, making it the highest mountain in the Matsu region, yet it is quite suitable for beginner hikers. The mountain is dotted with bunkers, with the command post at the highest point serving as the core of the defense in Beigan, coordinating with Nangan to control the entire Matsu sea area, making it one of the military strongholds of the Matsu Islands. As the command post is located at the summit, the Bishan military area remains heavily guarded but is open for public visits. Below the Beigan command post, there is a viewing platform along the roadside, which is the best observation point in Beigan. On clear, cloudless days, one can gaze out at the village of Hou'ao located at the foot of Dawo Mountain, the coastal Beigan Airport, the crystal-clear Tanghou Beach, the bustling Tangqi Street, and nearby islands such as Luoshan, Bangshan, Wuming Island, Qiaotou, Daqiu, and Xiaoqiu, all within sight; during the foggy season, the mountain peak shrouded in thick fog creates a hazy, ethereal scene, making it feel like a celestial paradise, immersed in a dreamlike state.
