Bishan Viewpoint Introduction

Bishan stands at an elevation of 298 meters and is the highest mountain in the Matsu region, making it quite suitable for beginner hikers. The mountain is dotted with bunkers, with the command center at its highest point serving as the core of defense for Beigan. It works in conjunction with Nangan to control the entire Matsu maritime area, making it one of the military strongholds of the Matsu Islands. Due to the command center being located at the summit, the Bishan military camp is still heavily guarded, but it has been opened for public visits. Along the road beneath the Beigan command center, there is an observation platform, which serves as the best viewpoint in Beigan. On clear days, one can see the village of Houshan located at the foot of the Da Wo Mountain, the coastal Beigan Airport, the pristine Tanghou Beach, the bustling Tangqi Street, as well as nearby islands such as Luoshan, Bangshan, the unnamed island, Qiaotou, Daqiu, and Xiaoqiu—all visible at a glance. During the fog season, the mountain peak shrouded in thick mist creates an ethereal atmosphere, resembling a scene from a celestial paradise.
