Tangqi Shopping District Introduction
Tangqi Village, with its long history, has always been the political, economic, and administrative center of Beigan. Nearly three-fifths of the island's population is concentrated in Tangqi. With the airport located next to the village, the main restaurants, hotels, guesthouses, and specialty shops are all gathered here, making it the most prosperous and lively place in Beigan Township. In recent years, with the support of the local government, major thoroughfares in Tangqi Village, such as Zhongzheng Road and Fuxing Road, are actively transforming into the "Tangqi Image Business District." In addition to maintaining traditional stone house architecture and the cultural landscape engraved with slogans from the wartime period, an artistic corridor has been added to beautify the environment. Besides the well-known local delicacies like fish noodles and fish balls, there is also the traditional glutinous rice treat exclusive to Beigan – "Five Flavor Fried Rice." Additionally, modern facilities such as 7-11, post offices, and internet cafes are fully available. Visitors can even enjoy a unique experience by watching movies in a community cinema organized by the local development association while munching on popcorn with residents of the Tangqi community. This rare experience is definitely worth experiencing firsthand.
