Tanghou Beach Introduction
Tanghou Beach, a must-visit family attraction in Beigan, is located next to Beigan Airport. Originally a sandy islet connecting Tangqi Village and Hou'ao Village, it is renowned for its fine and white sand, affectionately known as "sugar sand." The beach is vast, stretching hundreds of meters, resembling a plain in the ocean. During high tide, the beach is submerged, with only a narrow path visible; at low tide, the sands on both sides gradually emerge, revealing a rare geographical feature where the tide conceals the way in and exposes the beach out. However, due to the construction of Beigan Airport to facilitate transportation, a road was built through the middle of the sandbar, dividing the beach in two, diminishing the unique scenery of "Sandy Island." Today, strolling through this area allows you to feel the fine sand and cool sea water beneath your feet and witness airplanes taking off and landing at close range, offering a rare airport view that is worth seizing during your wait for boarding. Another highlight is the chance to closely admire the stunning blue tears, one of Beigan's highlights. The period from March to September is the optimal time to observe the Matsu Blue Tears. When the waves crash onto the shore, blue bioluminescence sparkles among the foam, creating an enchanting scene. Walking along the beach amidst the waves, you can see the blue glow shimmering around your feet, so be sure to make the most of the moment to appreciate this beautiful phenomenon!
