Tanghou Sand Beach Introduction
Tanghou Sand Beach, located next to the Matsu Airport, was originally a sandbank linking Tangqi Village and Hou'ao Village. Due to its fine and pristine sand, it has been dubbed "sugar sand." Surrounding the beach is vast, stretching hundreds of meters like a plain in the sea. During high tide, the beach is submerged, revealing only a narrow path; at low tide, the sands on both sides gradually emerge, creating a rare landscape where waves hide and expose the shore. However, due to the construction of Matsu Airport for convenient transportation, a road was built in the middle of the sandbank, dividing the beach in two, and the unique view of "Sandy Island" is no longer present. Now, walking here, visitors can feel the fine sand and cool sea water beneath their feet while observing planes taking off and landing up close, creating a rare airport scenery in the world, making it worthwhile to visit in the final moments before boarding. One of the signature spots to admire the enchanting blue tears, Matsu's blue tears viewing period is from March to September each year. When the waves crash ashore, the blue fluorescence sparkles among the waves, creating a mesmerizing sight. Walking on the beach accompanied by the waves, you can see the blue glow shimmering around your feet. Make sure to seize the time to appreciate the beautiful blue tears!
