Tanghou Beach Introduction
Taohao Beach is a must-visit family attraction in Beigan. Located next to Beigan Airport, it originally served as a sandbar connecting Tangqi Village and Hou'ao Village. The sand here is very fine and white, earning it the name "sugar sand." The expansive beach stretches hundreds of meters and resembles a flat plain in the sea. During high tide, the beach is submerged, leaving only a small path visible; during low tide, the sandy shores gradually reveal themselves, with the tide obscuring the way in and exposing the beach as the tide goes out—this is a rather rare topography. However, due to the construction of Beigan Airport and the need for better transportation connectivity, a road was built through the middle of the sandbar, dividing the beach into two, and the unique landscape of "Shaliandao" is no more. Today, as you stroll through, you can not only feel the fine sand and the cool sea water under your feet but also see airplanes taking off and landing up close, making it a rare airport scenery in the world—a perfect spot to make the most of your time while waiting to board. The area also offers a close-up view of the mesmerizing blue tears, one of Beigan's iconic spots. The period from March to September is the ideal time to observe the blue tears in Matsu. When the waves crash onto the shore, the blue bioluminescence sparkles in the water, creating a captivating sight. Walking along the beach with the waves, you'll see the blue glow flickering around your feet. Make sure to seize the moment to appreciate the beautiful blue tears!
