Tanghou Beach Introduction
Tanghou Beach is a must-visit family attraction in Beigan, located next to Beigan Airport. Originally a sandbar connecting Tangqi Village and Hou'ao Village, it features fine white sand, earning it the nickname "sugar sand." The vast beach stretches for hundreds of meters, resembling a plain within the sea. During high tide, the beach is submerged, leaving only a small path visible; as the tide recedes, the shores gradually emerge, showcasing a rare geographic feature. However, due to the construction of Beigan Airport and the need for convenient transportation, a road was built through the middle of the sandbar, dividing the beach into two, and the unique "Shalian Island" is no longer visible. Today, walking along the beach not only allows you to feel the fine sand and cool sea water underfoot but also offers a close-up view of airplanes taking off and landing, an extraordinary airport scenery found in few places around the world, making it worthwhile to take advantage of the last moments before boarding. From here, you can also witness the enchanting blue tears up close, one of Beigan's highlights. The best time to observe the blue tears is from March to September each year. When waves crash on the shore, the blue fluorescence sparkles among the surf, creating a mesmerizing sight. As you stroll along the beach, you'll see the blue glow shimmering around your feet. If you want to admire the beautiful blue tears, make sure to seize the moment!
