Turtle Island Introduction
In the central part of the Aokou area, north of Q'inbi Village, there is a prominent granite reef that resembles a large sea turtle resting on the water's surface due to the unique joints of the rock formation. Hence, residents refer to it as "Turtle Island." Surrounding Turtle Island, the clear waters reflect like a mirror, and Q'inbi Village, known as "Mirror Bay," prospered at one time, as legend has it that this area has excellent feng shui. Local residents believe that many folk tales and beliefs originated from Turtle Island, thus considering it one of the village's treasures. Each year, during April and May, it becomes one of the best spots to observe the "blue tears." The Legend of the Black Stone Tablet: If you have a telescope or camera, don't forget to use a telephoto lens to get a closer view, where you will find a black stone tablet on the island inscribed with "Plant Banyan to Gather Wealth." It is said that around 1994, residents erected the tablet following the instructions of the Iron-armored Marshal at the Tianhou Temple. After erecting both the "Plant Banyan to Gather Wealth" tablet and the "Donors' Honor Roll Tablet," Q'inbi Village gradually became a popular tourist destination and a unique folk settlement in Matsu, attracting more and more visitors over the past 20 years!
