Turtle Island Introduction
In the center of the Aokou area, north of Qianbi Village, there is a prominent granite reef that, due to its unique joints, resembles a giant tortoise lying quietly on the water's surface. The locals refer to it as "Tortoise Island." Surrounding Tortoise Island, the crystal-clear waters are so transparent that they resemble a mirror, and Qianbi Village, known as "Mirror Bay," flourished for a time. Legend has it that this area has excellent feng shui, and because the local residents believe that many folk tales and beliefs originate from Tortoise Island, they regard it as one of the village's treasures. Each year, during April and May, it becomes one of the best spots to observe "blue tears." Legend of the Black Stone Tablet If you have a telescope or a camera, don't forget to use a zoom lens to get a closer look. You'll discover a black stone tablet on the island with the inscription "Planting Ficus Brava Gathers Wealth." According to legend, in about 1994, residents erected this tablet on the island following the guidance from the deity of the TianHou Temple. After establishing both a tablet inscribed with "Planting Ficus Brava Gathers Wealth" and a "Donors' Name List Tablet," Qianbi Village gradually became an increasingly popular tourist destination and a unique folk settlement in Matsu over the course of more than 20 years!
