Hao'ao Min Dong Leisure Introduction
Hou'ao Village, also known as "Houwo" or "Houwang," derives its name from its position at the far end of the road starting from Baisha Village. Hou'ao is a typical seaside fishing village, where the "Yang Gong Ba Shi Temple" is very popular and bustling with activity, especially during festivals when villagers prepare grand rituals to pay homage. The northwest area of the village, commonly referred to by the residents as "Auli," faces the northeast and serves as a favored harbor for fishing boats to take shelter. Entering the seemingly inconspicuous and quaint fishing village of Hou'ao can bring unexpected joy and emotions. A must-visit is the ancient house at No. 53, Hou'ao Village, which has been transformed into the "Min Dong Arts and Culture Center" through the efforts of community builders. In 1999, under the "Settlement Preservation" urban-rural planning program actively promoted by the Lienchiang County government, the Beigan Cultural Association received approval from Lin Heping and his wife, the owners of the ancient house, to lease it for free and repurpose it as the "Min Dong Arts and Culture Center." The location of this traditional house is ideal, with a relatively complete interior structure, and its plain exterior showcases its traditional beauty. With a square in front, members of the Beigan Cultural Association dedicated themselves to cleaning, waterproofing, and renovating the space. Gradually, No. 53 Hou'ao Village became a multifunctional community activity center for local neighbors, soldiers, and tourists to hold exhibitions, workshops, gatherings, and recreational visits. The villagers actively participate, and now the various ceramic items in the "Min Dong Arts and Culture Center" are handmade by the elderly in the village. Many renowned scholars and poets have visited, including the poet Luo Ye, who once stayed in Qianbi and created a new poem titled "Min Dong Xian Qing." In 2005, the famous poet Zheng Chouyu, well-known in the Chinese-speaking world, personally inscribed a commemorative note, adding more brilliance to Hou'ao Village.
