Juguang Township, formerly known as Baiken, derives its name from the Fuzhou dialect where "ken" sounds like "dog," hence also referred to as White Dog. The two islands resemble two small dogs lying on the sea, leading to the naming of the eastern island as Dongqiu Island and the western island as Xiqiu Island. In 1971, it was renamed Juguang Township, meaning "Never forget to be in Juguang," and was then referred to as Dongju and Xiju. The Juguang Visitor Center is located next to the Fuzheng settlement on Dongju Island.

Three Islands Introduction

Jugang Township, formerly known as Baiken, derives its name from the Fuzhou dialect where "ken" sounds like "dog," leading to its alternative name, Baiquan (White Dog). The two islands are shaped like two small dogs lying on the sea, with the eastern island referred to as Dongquan Island and the western island as Xiquan Island. In 1971, it was renamed Jugang Township, meaning "Do not forget in Ju," and the eastern and western islands were renamed Dongju and Xiju, respectively. The Jugang Visitor Center is located next to the Fuzheng settlement on Dongju Island.
