Yilan Sports Park Introduction
Yilan Sports Park, located in the city of Yilan and adjacent to Provincial Highway 9, covers an area of approximately 27 hectares. It is an open recreational space that integrates leisure and sports, featuring a human-centered design reminiscent of the wall-less County Cultural Center. This park pioneered the trend of turning sports facilities into park-like environments in Taiwan. The Taiwan Regional Sports Games were held here in 1992. Visitors can enter and exit the park from any point, but all vehicles, except bicycles, are strictly regulated. The park's landscaping changes with the seasons, showcasing different sceneries: when the red cotton flowers bloom vibrantly on the trees along Jianrong Road, summer is quietly approaching; the Taiwan acacia produces its pale yellow flower clusters, signaling the arrival of autumn; as the purple bauhinia flowers blanket the ground, people know that winter is near; and in spring, the park bursts with a riot of blossoms, creating a lively atmosphere! On weekdays, families can enjoy the beauty of the park by admiring exotic flowers and plants, walking, biking, or flying kites. It also serves as a venue for various sports competitions, where the beautiful scenery can inspire excellent performances. For tourists from other counties and cities, Yilan Sports Park is a great place to take a break during their long sightseeing journey. Here, they can fully enjoy the fragrance of flowers, the chirping of birds, and the tree garden under the blue sky and white clouds, while also stretching their bodies and experiencing the “symphony of green and strength” in the Lanyang Plain. Thanks to its comprehensive design, people of all ages and genders can find their own space here. On weekdays, it is an excellent place for relaxation and exercise, and on weekends or holidays, crowds gather in this location. However, the mess created by vendors accompanying the crowd has become a hidden concern for the park. After all, having a beautiful sports park is a shared blessing for everyone, and we should cherish this wonderful place belonging to our community.
