Yilan Sports Park Introduction
Yilan Sports Park, located in the city of Yilan and adjacent to Provincial Highway 9, covers an area of approximately 27 hectares. It is an open recreational space that combines leisure and sports, designed with a humanistic approach that follows the wall-less concept of the County Cultural Center. It initiated the trend of park-like sports facilities in Taiwan and hosted the Taiwan Regional Sports Meet in 1992. Visitors can enter the park from various points, but all vehicles except bicycles are strictly regulated. The park's landscaping showcases different sights with the changing seasons: when the silk floss trees on Health Road bloom with vibrant red flowers, summer is approaching; the Taiwan acacias bring forth tender yellow flower clusters, signaling autumn; as the beautiful Bauhinia flowers cover the ground, people know winter is near; and during spring, the park is lively with blooming flowers everywhere. On weekdays, families can enjoy the beauty of the park by admiring exotic flowers, walking, cycling, or flying kites. It also serves as a venue for various sports competitions, where high performance can be achieved in this picturesque setting. For tourists from other counties, Yilan Sports Park is a great place to rest during their long journeys, allowing them to enjoy the fragrance of flowers and the sounds of birds under the blue sky and white clouds, as well as the tranquility of the gardens, while experiencing the symphony of "green and strength" in the Lanyang Plain. Thanks to its thoughtful design, people of all ages can find their own space here. On weekdays, it is a perfect location for recreational activities, while on weekends and holidays, the area becomes bustling with visitors. However, the litter brought by vendors accompanying the crowds has become a concern for the park.
