Gui Shan Maple Tree Pit Trail Introduction
Fengshukeng Trail is one of the many hiking trails in Taoyuan's Hutoushan. The trail entrance is located at the end of Lane 281, Guangfeng Road, Fengshu Village. Upon entering, you will first pass by the side entrance of Fengshu Elementary School and continue up the access road next to Fude Temple, where you will arrive at the Zhenwu Temple, which is dedicated to Xuantian Emperor. The temple has a tranquil environment and is a great spot for visits. Next to the temple, a straight wooden stairway marks the beginning of the Fengshukeng Trail. Continuing up the wooden steps and passing through the forest, you will reach a vast area of miscanthus grass. Autumn is the best time to appreciate the miscanthus, as the flowers bloom abundantly at this time, with their elegant white flower spikes particularly eye-catching. The area appears like a sea of clouds, making it one of the most beautiful scenes in autumn. Aside from the visual appeal, the miscanthus is a pioneer plant thriving in sunny, exposed areas, playing a crucial role in protecting the land with its strong life force, anchoring the soil, and preventing landslides during adverse weather. Leaving behind the swaying miscanthus, you will come into view of the Guishan No. 6 Pavilion, which is an excellent spot for mountain viewing. Standing on the pavilion and looking down, the expansive vista allows you to appreciate the whole view of Fengshu Elementary School, the cluster of buildings in the urban area below, and on a lucky day, even catch a glimpse of Taipei 101. Around you, you can see the mountains of Hutoushan and Xinluhengshan; the autumn season adds the romantic scenery of swaying miscanthus, which is quite stunning. Departing from the picturesque No. 6 Pavilion and walking along the wide gravel road, you need not worry about rocky paths as you can continue to enjoy the natural scenery from the pavilion, where both distant mountains and nearby grasslands come into view, allowing for a pleasant and relaxing experience amidst vibrant greenery. After passing by the power tower and the orchard, you will arrive at a wide red soil plaza, which is the convergence point of multiple hiking trails known as the "Helipad." This area serves as a base for remote-control airplane enthusiasts on weekends and connects various paths leading to Hutoushan Eco-Park, Hutoushan Park, and Fengshukeng. Tourists can choose to descend from the direction of Power Tower No. 15, where they can enjoy the beautiful view of the recently passed No. 6 Pavilion and the northern peak of Xinluhengshan. On the descent, the colorful glazed roof tiles of the Ming Lun San Sheng Temple shine brilliantly against the lush green mountains, and the nearby European-style architecture is also quite distinctive. The trail ends at Fengshu Village, known for its flower sea, where visitors can take a leisurely stroll, marking a perfect conclusion to this mountain-affiliated trail.
