Guishan Maple Tree Pit Trail Introduction
Fengshuikeng Trail is one of the many hiking trails in Hutoushan, Taoyuan. The trailhead is located at the end of Lane 281, Guangfeng Road, Fengshuikeng Village. From here, you will first pass through the side gate of Fengshu Elementary School, then continue up the road next to Fu De Temple to reach the Zhenwu Temple, which is dedicated to the deity Xuantian Shangdi. The environment inside the temple is serene, making it a great place to visit. Next to the temple, a straight wooden step path marks the start of the Fengshuikeng Trail. Continuing along the wooden steps, you will pass through the forest and arrive at a vast area of Miscanthus grass. In late autumn, this becomes the best time for Miscanthus viewing, as the flowers bloom everywhere, and the billowing white flower spikes are particularly eye-catching, creating a sight reminiscent of a vast sea of clouds, considered one of the most beautiful landscapes after the arrival of autumn. In addition to its decorative appeal, Miscanthus itself is a pioneering plant that thrives in sunny, exposed lands, and cannot be seen in dense forests. Its resilient life keeps the soil intact, preventing landslides caused by wind and rain. Leaving behind the swaying Miscanthus, the Gushan No. 6 Pavilion comes into view, which serves as an excellent vantage point for mountain scenery. Ascending to the pavilion, the broad view not only offers a panoramic view of Fengshu Elementary School and the densely clustered buildings of the city below, but if you're lucky, you might also catch a glimpse of Taipei 101; 360-degree views reveal the mountain landscapes of Hutoushan and Xinlukeng Mountain, with the autumn scenery enhanced by the romantic sight of the swaying Miscanthus. Departing from the spacious No. 6 Pavilion and walking along the wide dirt road, there's no concern about rugged terrain, allowing for a continuation of the natural scenery experienced from the pavilion, with both distant mountains and near grasses pleasantly visible, making it easy to enjoy the lush greenery. After passing by electric towers and orchards, you will see a large expanse of red earth square, which is a gathering place for multiple hiking trails called the "Helipad." Besides accommodating helicopters, it becomes a hub for remote-controlled airplane enthusiasts on weekends; due to being a junction of several mountain paths, trails branch off towards Hutoushan Eco Park, Hutoushan Park, and Fengshuikeng. Visitors can choose to descend from the direction of the No. 15 electric tower, enjoying beautiful views of the recently passed No. 6 Pavilion and the northern peak of Xinlukeng Mountain. As you descend, the glimmering glazed roof tiles of Minglun Sanku Pavilion against the lush green forest stand out strikingly, and the European-style architecture below is also quite distinctive. The end of the trail is known for the flower sea of Fengshuikeng Village, which can be enjoyed along the way, perfectly concluding this pleasant mountain trail.
