Gui Mountain Maple Tree Pit Trail Introduction
Fengshukeng Hiking Trail is one of the many hiking trails in Taoyuan's Hutou Mountain. The trailhead is located at the end of Alley 281 on Guangfeng Road in Fengshucu Village. After entering, you will first pass by the side entrance of Fengshu Elementary School, then continue uphill along the roadway next to Fude Temple, where you will reach Zhenwu Temple, which enshrines Xuantian Shangdi (the God of War). The temple has a serene environment and is a nice place to visit. Next to the temple, there is a straight wooden stairway, which marks the starting point of Fengshukeng Hiking Trail. Continuing up the wooden stairs and through the forest, you will arrive at a vast area of miscanthus grass. Autumn is the best time to enjoy the flowering of miscanthus, as white flowers bloom abundantly, creating a sea of white that resembles floating clouds, making it one of the most beautiful sights in autumn. Besides being visually pleasing, the elegant miscanthus plays a vital role as a pioneer plant, typically unseen in dense forests but thriving in sunny, open land, protecting the soil with its resilient roots and preventing landslides caused by heavy winds and rains. Leaving the flapping miscanthus flowers behind, you will be greeted by the high-point Guishan No. 6 Pavilion, an excellent spot for mountain views. Stepping up to the pavilion, the broad vista reveals not only the panoramic view of Fengshu Elementary School and the urban area below but also, if you’re lucky, a distant sight of Taipei 101. Looking around, you can see the landscapes of Hutou Mountain and Xinlukeng Mountain, with autumn adding a romantic touch as the miscanthus sways with the changing seasons, which is truly stunning. After leaving the wide view of the No. 6 Pavilion, walking on the wide earthen road ensures a smooth journey, allowing you to continue enjoying the natural scenery encountered along the way. The beautiful green hills can be easily appreciated. After passing by a power tower and orchards, you will see a vast red soil plaza, a gathering point for multiple hiking trails known as the "Helipad." This area serves as a base for remote control plane enthusiasts during holidays, and since it is the intersection of several mountain paths, the trails lead to Hutou Mountain Eco-Park, Hutou Mountain Park, and Fengshukeng. Visitors can choose to turn downhill from the direction of the No. 15 power tower, with lovely views of the previously visited No. 6 Pavilion and the northern peak of Xinlukeng Mountain. As you descend, the colorful glazed roof tiles of Minglun Three Saints Temple against the emerald green of the forest are particularly striking, and the imitation European-style architecture below also features unique characteristics. The end of the trail is in Fengshucu Village, known for its flower fields, which can be enjoyed along the way, providing a perfect conclusion to this mountainous path.
