Guishan Maple Tree Pit Trail Introduction
The Fengshukeng Hiking Trail is one of the many hiking trails in Taoyuan's Hutoushan. The trailhead is located at the end of Alley 281, Guangfeng Road, in Fengshu Village. After entering, you will first pass by the side gate of Fengshu Elementary School, and then continue uphill along the road next to Fude Temple until you reach the Zhenwu Temple, which is dedicated to Xuantian Shangdi. The environment inside the temple is serene, making it a great visiting spot. Next to the temple is a straight wooden staircase, which marks the beginning of the Fengshukeng Hiking Trail. As you climb along the wooden stairs and pass through the forest, you will arrive at a vast area of miscanthus grass. Every autumn is the best time to enjoy the sight of the miscanthus; at this time, the flowers bloom abundantly, with their fluttering white flower spikes particularly eye-catching, creating a landscape that resembles a sea of clouds. This view is regarded as one of the most beautiful sights in autumn. In addition to its beauty, don't underestimate the elegant miscanthus; it is a pioneer plant that thrives only in sunny and bare land, and it protects the soil with its resilient life force, preventing landslides caused by wind and rain. After leaving the swaying miscanthus, you will behold the Guishan No. 6 Pavilion, a perfect spot for mountain viewing. Stepping onto the pavilion and looking down offers a broad view, allowing you to enjoy a panoramic view of Fengshu Elementary School, the numerous houses in the city below, and, if luck permits, even a distant view of Taipei 101. Surrounding views include the mountains of Hutoushan and Xinlukengshan, which in autumn showcase the romantic scenery of swaying miscanthus due to seasonal changes, creating a stunning sight. Leaving the spacious No. 6 Pavilion and walking on the wide dirt road eliminates concerns about rough terrain, allowing you to continue enjoying the natural scenery along the way, where both distant mountains and nearby grasses are easily visible and can be enjoyed without effort. After passing by the power tower and an orchard, you will see a large open area of red soil, which serves as a junction for several hiking trails known as the "helipad." This area not only accommodates helicopters but also serves as a base for remote control plane enthusiasts on weekends. As it is the intersection of multiple mountain paths, the forks lead to Hutoushan Eco-Park, Hutoushan Park, and Fengshukeng. Visitors can choose to turn downhill from the direction of Power Tower No. 15, retracing their steps back to the beautiful No. 6 Pavilion and the northern peak of Xinlukengshan. On the way down, the glazed roof tiles of Mingtai San Sheng Temple sparkle against the lush green mountains, while the European-style buildings below are quite distinctive. The trail ends in Fengshu Village, known for its flower fields, providing a perfect conclusion to this mountain hiking journey.
