The "Hou Shi Settlement" operates under the principles of "clear sourcing, transparent processing, and fresh supply," gathering artisans specializing in oil, fruits, vegetables, bread, and fermentation. They provide delicious meals using quality ingredients and good food, allowing everyone to re-experience the flavors of dining and life in a nature-friendly environment. It is hard to imagine that such a green market exists on Guangming Sixth Road, one of the busiest streets in Zhubei City. Entering the subtly marked gate of "Hou Shi Settlement," it feels like stepping into another world, with a pond in front of a cave that is warm in winter and cool in summer, gentle streams flowing under shaded trees, and nests of black-crowned herons visible among the branches, resembling a natural mountain village. Six charming stores offering "good food," along with a handmade craft shop, are scattered throughout this urban oasis. "Thick food" means "delicious" in Hakka, and the Hou Shi Settlement Agricultural and Food Cooperative states that everything sold here must meet the three principles of "clear sourcing, transparent processing, and fresh supply." Additionally, they aim to share and promote this concept to the public through the Tree Courtyard Co-creation Platform. Recognizing that large-scale commercial production, while reducing costs, generates more issues related to the environment, food safety, and social justice, the team hopes to rediscover a beautiful life filled with humanity through the small and exquisite community economy of Hou Shi Settlement.
