Hou-Shi Community Introduction

Hou Food Settlement believes that food is the most important aspect of life, and delicious "Hou Food" is the greatest happiness! The "Hou Food Settlement," based on the principles of "clear sourcing, transparent processing, and fresh supply," gathers artisans specializing in oils, fruits, vegetables, bread, and fermentation to provide delightful meals made from high-quality ingredients in a nature-friendly environment, leading everyone to re-experience the flavors of food and life. It is hard to imagine that in the bustling traffic of Guangming Sixth Road in Zhubei, there is such a green market. Turning into the understated entrance of the "Hou Food Settlement," it feels like entering another world. In front of a cave that is warm in winter and cool in summer, there is a pond, and beneath the shade of green trees, water flows gently. Looking up, one can even spot the nests of black-crowned night herons among the branches, resembling a natural mountain village. Six charming shops offering "good food," along with a craft store, are scattered throughout this urban oasis. "Hou Food" means "delicious" in Hakka. The Hou Food Settlement Agricultural and Food Cooperative states that anything sold here must meet the three principles of "clear sourcing, transparent processing, and fresh supply." Additionally, through the Tree Courtyard Common Good Platform, this concept is shared and disseminated to the public. Recognizing that large-scale commercial production, while reducing costs, has led to more issues concerning the environment, food safety, and social justice, the team hopes to rediscover a life full of human warmth through small and beautiful community economies like the Hou Food Settlement.
