Litou Mountain Trail Introduction
LihTou Mountain is located at the junction of Xinpul Town, Zhubei City, and Xianglin Township in Hsinchu County. It is named for its topography, which resembles the plow head used by ancient people for farming. The mountain stretches from Neili, Xinpul in the east to the east side of the Zhubei Expressway in the west, running east to west. It serves as the watershed between the two major rivers in Hsinchu County: the Toucian River and the Fengshan River. The elevation is 156 meters, with a steep southern slope and a gentler northern slope. Originally, LihTou Mountain was used for farmers' tea plantations, which have now fallen into disrepair, although many old tea trees can still be seen in the forest. The main trail and various entrance paths are actually winding paths that local residents used for tea picking or farming in the past. In the 1980s, agricultural decline caused the tea plantations on the mountain to gradually fall into disuse. Most of the tea-picking paths have been overgrown with wild vegetation, and the ancient trail at Yuetao Wo, which was once frequented by merchants and travelers crossing LihTou Mountain, is now deserted. LihTou Mountain has become a wild and desolate place, with the exception of a section over a kilometer near the triangulation point in the west, which is still visited by people for hiking. The rest of the area is largely uninhabited.
