Zhongyi Temple Introduction
The Zhongyi Temple, located in Beitou, Lukang, was established in the 55th year of the Qianlong period (1790) when incense from Quanzhou in mainland China was offered. Initially, it followed a system of rotating furnace masters from local households for worship. In the 3rd year of the Daoguang period (1823), the temple was built for worship. The exterior of the Zhongyi Temple is magnificent, with marble walls adorned with verses from renowned local calligraphers and poets. It also features intricately crafted wooden altars and a plaque reading "Yi Yong Jing Zhong." The overall decoration of the temple uses many vibrant colors, making it quite splendid.
