SYC Aviation Park Introduction
The Saijia Aviation Park is located in Saijia Village, Sandimen Township, Pingtung County. Due to the shielding from the Central Mountain Range, it has formed relatively stable updrafts, with an uplift of about 1,000 meters and a flight area that reaches 16 kilometers, providing ample space for activities. Additionally, its proximity to the Pingtung Plain makes it suitable for landing, making both the climate and environment very conducive for paragliding and hang gliding, leading to its designation as the first aviation-themed park in Taiwan. The facilities at Saijia Aviation Park are divided into three parts: the mountain take-off area, the flat landing area, and the comprehensive hang gliding training camp. The mountain take-off area on the eastern side features steep terrain and stable updrafts, naturally forming an excellent launching site. In contrast, the flat landing area on the western side has a level terrain that not only offers beautiful scenery and wide views but also has few ground obstacles, making it the most suitable landing site. As for the comprehensive hang gliding training camp at the southern end of the park, although there are plans for accommodation, it is currently only available for training of athletes and public groups, and is not open to the public. With its climatic advantages, the optimal flying time at Saijia Aviation Park is approximately from 10 AM to 4 PM daily, as stable thermals often occur during these hours. The best flying season is generally from December to March of the following year, making it not only the first of its kind in Taiwan but also the only place in Asia where paragliding and hang gliding can be conducted in winter. Every year, it attracts many flying enthusiasts from both domestic and international backgrounds to experience the thrill of soaring in the sky.
