Sega Aviation Park Introduction
Saijia Aviation Park is located in Saijia Village, Sandimen Township, Pingtung County. Due to the barrier of the Central Mountain Range, it forms relatively stable updrafts with an elevation of about 1,000 meters and a flight area reaching 16 kilometers. The spacious area, along with its proximity to the Pingtung Plain, makes it an ideal landing site, making it highly suitable for paragliding and hang gliding. Thus, it is planned to be the first aviation-themed park in Taiwan. The facilities at Saijia Aviation Park are divided into three parts: the mountainous take-off area, the flat landing area, and the comprehensive hang gliding training camp. The eastern mountainous take-off area is characterized by high slopes and steep terrain, naturally creating an excellent launching site due to the stable updrafts. The western flat landing area features a flat plain landscape, which is not only beautiful but also offers a wide view, making it the most suitable landing area due to the lack of obstacles. As for the comprehensive hang gliding training camp at the southern end of the park, it is planned with accommodation areas, but currently serves only as a training site for athletes and public groups and is not open to the public. With its climatic advantages, the optimal flying time at Saijia Aviation Park is approximately from 10 AM to 4 PM daily, as stable thermal currents often occur during this period. The best flying season is from December to March each year, making it not only the first in Taiwan but also the only place in Asia where paragliding and hang gliding can be practiced in winter. Every year, it attracts many flying enthusiasts from both domestic and international locations to experience the thrill of flying in Saijia Aviation Park.
