Sega Aviation Park Introduction
The Sai Jia Aviation Park is located in Sai Jia Village, San Di Men Township, Pingtung County. Due to the shielding of the Central Mountain Range, it creates relatively stable rising air currents, pushing heights of around 1,000 meters, with a flying area reaching 16 kilometers, providing a very spacious activity space. Additionally, being close to the Pingtung Plain allows for suitable landing spots. Both the climate and environment make it very suitable for paragliding and hang gliding activities, leading to its planning as the first aviation-themed park in Taiwan. The facilities at Sai Jia Aviation Park are divided into three parts: a mountain take-off area, a flat landing area, and a comprehensive gliding training camp. The mountain take-off area, located on the eastern side, features steep terrain and a high gradient, combined with stable rising air currents, naturally forming an excellent launch site. The flat landing area on the western side consists of level plain terrain, not only offering beautiful scenery and a wide field of vision, but also having few obstacles on the ground, making it the most suitable landing area. As for the comprehensive gliding training camp at the southern end of the park, while accommodation areas have been planned, it is currently only used as a training ground for athletes and public groups and is not open to the public. With its advantageous climate, the Sai Jia Aviation Park has the most suitable flying period every day from around 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as stable thermal currents often occur during this time. The optimal flying season is from December to March each year, making it the first of its kind in Taiwan and the only location in Asia where paragliding and hang gliding can be engaged in during winter. Each year, it attracts many aviation enthusiasts from both domestic and international locations to experience the thrill of soaring through the sky at Sai Jia Aviation Park.
