Taitung Old Railway Corridor Introduction
The Old Taitung Railway Corridor is 6 kilometers long, starting from the old Taitung Train Station, which was officially closed on June 1, 2001. After the county government secured central funding, the old railway between the old station and the Beinan Great Irrigation Canal was converted into a wooden boardwalk, becoming an important recreational walking space for the citizens of Taitung City. Visitors can walk from the old station to the new station and continue extending towards Beinan. The scenery along the Old Railway Corridor is diverse; near the urban area, there are planted roadside trees, and the collaboration between residential areas and businesses creates a distinctive community corridor garden landscape. After passing Kaifeng Street and continuing past Taiping Creek, one can see the Zeng Zhengyuan Art Space, originally the Malan Station, with its preserved platform available for a brief rest. At the end of the corridor, you can find the quaint Taiping Creek Railway Bridge. The entire Old Railway Corridor runs through Taitung City, making it an excellent location for leisure, walking, and cycling.
