Taitung Old Railway Path Introduction
The Taitung Old Railway Corridor is 6 kilometers long, extending from the old Taitung Railway Station, which was officially closed on June 1, 2001. After the county government secured central government subsidies, the old railway from the old station to Beinan River was transformed into a wooden path, becoming an important leisure and walking space for Taitung residents. Visitors can walk from the old train station to the new station, continuing towards Beinan. The scenery along the old railway corridor varies; in the section near the city center, road trees are planted, and the residential and commercial areas on both sides create a distinctive community corridor garden landscape. Further along after Kaifeng Street, past Taiping River, one can see the former Malan Station, now the Zeng Zhengyuan Art Space, where the preserved platform offers a place to rest. At the end of the old railway corridor, the charming Taiping River Railway Bridge can be seen. This entire old railway corridor runs through Taitung City, making it an excellent spot for leisure activities, walking, and cycling.
