Taitung Old Railway Corridor Introduction
The old Taitung railway corridor is 6 kilometers long, established after the Taitung train station officially ceased operations on June 1, 2001, following the county government's efforts to secure central government subsidies. Wooden walkways have been laid along the old railway from the former train station to Beinan Irrigation Canal, creating an important recreational walking space for the citizens of Taitung City. Visitors can walk from the old train station to the new station, extending toward the Beinan area. The scenery along the old railway corridor varies greatly; near the urban area, the planted roadside trees alongside residences and businesses create a unique community garden landscape. After passing Kaifeng Street and continuing forward past Taiping River, you will see the Zeng Zhengyuan Art Space, originally the Malan Station, with its preserved platform available for temporary rest. At the end of the old railway corridor, the charming Taiping River Railway Bridge can be seen. This entire old railway corridor connects Taitung City and serves as a great place for the public to relax, walk, and ride bicycles.
