The old Taitung train station, located in the center of Taitung City, handed over its role as a transportation hub to the new station in 2001. After collaborative efforts between the county government and the local community, the area around the old station has successfully transformed into the Tiehua New Cultural and Creative Hub. It has elegantly evolved into a center for cultural innovation and trendy attractions in Taitung. A stroll through the Tiehua New Cultural and Creative Hub at night, adorned with colorful hot air balloons, has become one of the must-do activities for visitors to Taitung. The Tiehua New Cultural and Creative Hub includes the TTstyle Original Hall, the Railway Art Village, the Showtimes Cinemas, the Taitung Transfer Station, and various markets. It regularly hosts a variety of artistic and cultural events, enriching Taitung with abundant joy and a strong creative atmosphere! Within the Tiehua New Cultural and Creative Hub, there are periodic exciting music performances and markets featuring creative handmade goods and specialty foods, offering a space for creative talents to freely express themselves, making it the music hub of Taitung. The entire structure of the Original Hall is built with shipping containers and steel, attracting more than ten shops specializing in handmade indigenous creations and unique dining options, thus forming a new settlement for creativity in Taitung. In recent years, the county government has actively collaborated with Taiwan Railways, private teams, and local businesses to promote the Tiehua New Cultural and Creative Hub as an international tourist attraction.
