Shimen Changbin Bicycle Path Introduction
Taiwan's eastern coast has been shaped over hundreds of years by the collision and compression of the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate, resulting in tectonic movements that create stunning geological landscapes. It connects to the Pacific Ocean and boasts a rich marine ecosystem, where visitors can often see whales and dolphins leaping above the waves, marveling at the wonders of natural ecology. The Changbin Bicycle Path passes famous eastern coastal attractions such as Shitiping, Changhong Bridge, Tropic of Cancer Marker, and Baxian Cave. In addition to providing opportunities for stopping and resting, it also allows for half-day or full-day itineraries. The flat coastline and windbreak forest views along Changbin Coast have even served as film locations for movies like "The Farthest Distance" and "Etude." Furthermore, the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration has carefully placed viewing pavilions along the path, which are situated in open areas with excellent vistas, allowing visitors not only to rest but also to take in the breathtaking scenery of the eastern coast. Most notably, cycling along the path allows one to appreciate coastal forest plant communities such as Lin Tou, Huang Tong, and Coastal Keteleeria, as well as coral reefs and large tidal pools. Additionally, one can spot rare and precious bird species like terns, black-faced spoonbills, waterbirds, and sandpipers, making it a superb setting for both relaxation and visual feasting amidst this unique geographical environment.
