Tropic of Cancer Marker in Jingpu Introduction
The Tropic of Cancer is located at 23.5 degrees North latitude, marking the northern limit of the sun's direct rays on Earth and the boundary between the subtropical and tropical zones. The Tropic of Cancer marker in Jingpu is situated at kilometer 69 along Provincial Highway 11. Every year on the summer solstice, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west along the white tower. A narrow slit has been designed in the coordinate tower to observe this phenomenon, and at noon on the summer solstice, sunlight shines directly through the slit. At this moment, visitors beside the tower can experience the fascinating phenomenon of having no shadow under the sun.
