Tropic of Cancer Marker at Jingpu Introduction
The Tropic of Cancer is located at 23.5 degrees North latitude, marking the northern boundary where the sun directly shines on the Earth, and it serves as the dividing line between the subtropical and tropical regions. The Tropic of Cancer marker in Jingpu is situated at the 69 km point of Provincial Highway 11. Every year on the summer solstice, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west along the white tower. Therefore, a narrow slit is designed on the coordinate tower to observe this phenomenon. At noon on the summer solstice, sunlight perfectly shines through the slit, allowing visitors next to the tower to experience the wonderful phenomenon of having no shadow under the sun.
