Taitung Forest Park Introduction
Adjacent to Taitung City, Taitung Forest Park is located at the intersection of the city and the sea, covering an area of 280 hectares. The expansive park features diverse landscapes, including estuarine coastal wetlands, vast grassy fields, and lush forests, all offering a view of soothing greenery. Within Taitung Forest Park, there are three main lakes: "Pipa Lake," known for its clear waters; "Egret Lake," a popular birdwatching spot; and "Living Water Lake," which hosts various water sports events. Each water body provides a unique sensory experience, making it ideal for cycling and enjoying moments in nature. In the 1960s, to prevent dust from the northeast monsoon, large plantings of Casuarina were done, giving the forest a dark appearance and leading to its former name, "Black Forest." The park's bike paths connect with the Mountain-Sea Cycling Path and international landmarks, allowing cyclists to bask in the beautiful forest scenery, pass by Pipa Lake to see the dreamlike lake and mountain views, and upon entering the seaside park, be greeted by the vast Pacific Ocean, savoring the flavors of both the forest and the sea.
