Guanshan Police History Museum Introduction
When it comes to police stations, the general public often perceives them as serious and inviolable places. However, the police station in Guanshan Township, Taitung County, is different. Although the Guanshan Police Station is merely a branch located in a small town, it has a strong sense of friendliness and nostalgia. Upon entering the Guanshan Police Station, one can feel a different atmosphere; in addition to general duties, it particularly emphasizes the integration of "quality, tourism, and community." They not only provide convenient services such as bicycle rentals, blood pressure measurement, coffee, and tea, but the officers also kindly conduct tours for visitors. To preserve the gradually fading police artifacts, the Guanshan Police Station has specially transformed its former Japanese military office into the "Guanshan Police History Museum," with police officers providing early documents and historical artifacts, including uniforms, tools for crime, communication and security equipment, desks, bookshelves, stationery, and even antique hand-cranked telephones. There is also an "air raid siren" available for visitors to touch, allowing for both viewing and hands-on operation, making it a very unique experience. Visitors can feel the evolution of police work from ancient times to the present and appreciate the hard work of the "people's babysitters" in executing their duties. The Guanshan Police Station still retains the traditional Japanese wooden architecture of the past, with corridors, wooden windows, railings, doors, and walls exuding a strong historical charm. As one wanders through the wooden building, it feels as if they have traveled back to the 1940s, sparking nostalgic reflections. After exploring the police artifacts, visitors can relax in the elegantly decorated courtyard, enjoying a beautiful garden pond landscape while sipping coffee or tea, experiencing a different kind of friendliness within the solemn police station.
