Guanshan Police History Museum Introduction
When it comes to police stations, the general public often perceives them as serious and untouchable places. However, the police station in Guangshan Township, Taitung County is different. Although the Guangshan Police Station is just a branch in a small town, it exudes a strong sense of friendliness and nostalgia. Upon entering the Guangshan Police Station, you can immediately feel a different atmosphere. In addition to regular duties, there is a particular focus on the integration of "quality, tourism, and community." The station not only provides convenient services such as bike rentals, blood pressure measurements, and coffee and tea offerings, but officers also warmly guide visitors. To preserve the gradually fading police artifacts, the Guangshan Police Station has specially planned its former Japanese stationed office into the "Guangshan Police History Museum," where police colleagues provide early documents, historical relics, uniforms, criminal tools, communication and security equipment, as well as desks, bookshelves, stationery, and even antique hand-crank telephones. There is also an "air raid siren" that visitors can touch and operate, offering a very unique experience. This allows visitors to feel the evolution of police work from the past to the present, gaining insight into the hard work of the guardians of the people in performing their duties. To this day, the Guangshan Police Station retains its traditional Japanese wooden architectural style, with corridors, wooden windows, railings, doors, and walls all radiating a strong historical flavor. Wandering through the wooden structure feels like traveling back to the 1940s, evoking a sense of nostalgia. After visiting the police artifacts, guests can go to the elegantly decorated retro courtyard, sit down to enjoy the beautiful garden pond scenery while sipping coffee or tea, and experience a different kind of warmth in the solemn and serious environment of a police station.
