Guanshan Police Museum Introduction
When it comes to police stations, the general impression among the public is that they are serious and inviolable places, but the police station in Guanshan Township, Taitung County, is different. Although the Guanshan Police Station is just a branch located in a small town, it exudes a strong sense of friendliness and nostalgia. Upon entering the Guanshan Police Station, you can feel the distinct atmosphere; in addition to regular duties, it places special emphasis on the integration of "quality, tourism, and community." Not only does it provide convenient services such as bicycle rentals, blood pressure measurements, coffee, and tea, but the officers are also friendly tour guides for visitors. To preserve the gradually fading police artifacts, the Guanshan Police Station has specially transformed its former Japanese station office into the "Guanshan Police History Museum," where police colleagues provide early documentation and historical relics, including uniforms, tools of punishment, communication and security equipment, as well as desks, bookshelves, stationery, and even antique hand-crank telephones. There is also an "air raid siren" that visitors can touch and operate, offering a unique experience. This allows visitors to appreciate the evolution of police work from ancient times to the present, realizing the hard work of public servants in carrying out their duties. The Guanshan Police Station still preserves the traditional Japanese wooden architecture of the past, with corridors, wooden windows, wooden railings, wooden doors, and walls all emitting a strong historical flavor. Wandering through the wooden architecture feels like stepping back into the 1940s, evoking a sense of nostalgia. After visiting the police relics, you can relax in the elegantly decorated and vintage courtyard, enjoying the beautiful garden pond scenery while sipping coffee or tea, experiencing a different kind of warmth within the solemn atmosphere of the police station.
