Guanshan Police History Museum Introduction
When it comes to police stations, the general impression for most people is that they are serious and untouchable places, but the police station in Guanshan Township, Taitung County, is different. Although the Guanshan Police Substation is located in a small town, it has a strong sense of warmth and nostalgia. As soon as you step inside the Guanshan Police Substation, you can feel a different atmosphere. In addition to ordinary duties, it particularly emphasizes the integration of "quality, tourism, and community," providing convenient services such as bicycle rentals, blood pressure measurements, coffee, tea, and so on. The officers also kindly guide tourists around. To preserve the gradually fading police artifacts, the Guanshan Police Substation has specially planned its Japanese liaison office into the "Guanshan Police History Museum," where police colleagues provide early documents, historical artifacts, uniforms, tools, communication and security equipment, as well as desks, cabinets, stationery, and even antique hand-cranked telephones. There is also an "air raid alarm machine" for visitors to touch and operate, which offers a very unique experience. This allows visitors to feel the evolution of police work from ancient times to the present and appreciate the hard work of public servants while performing their duties. The Guanshan Police Station still retains its traditional Japanese wooden architecture, with corridors, wooden windows, wooden railings, wooden doors, and walls, all exuding a strong historical flavor. Walking through the wooden building feels like traveling back to the 1940s, which can evoke a sense of nostalgia. After visiting the police artifacts, you can sit in the elegantly decorated retro courtyard, enjoy the beautiful garden pond landscape while drinking coffee or tea, and experience a different sense of warmth in the solemn police station.
