Electric Light Village Introduction
Kaadaadaan Village is located at the foothills on the western side of the Central Mountain Range, directly across from Guanshan Township in Taitung, separated by the Peinan River. This area was formerly known as Leigong Fire, which is said to be due to the presence of mud volcanoes that often ignited at night, leading residents to believe that the strange flames were caused by lightning. In Minnan language, lightning is referred to as "Leigong," hence the name "Leigong Fire." When visiting Kaadaadaan Village, the most notable feature is the Kaadaadaan Elementary School. With fewer than 40 students, it is a mini school, but it has achieved remarkable results in developing its own curriculum and has been awarded as one of the top ten classic characteristic elementary schools by the Ministry of Education, as well as recognized as one of the top 100 characteristic elementary schools by Business Weekly. Among the highlights promoted by Kaadaadaan Elementary School are the bamboo cannon experience and performances of traditional Amis percussion instruments. The bamboo cannon was originally a tool used by the local Amis people over a hundred years ago to scare off invading Qing soldiers, and it has now become a popular tourist activity. The traditional Amis percussion performances are taught by the Taitung Gagen Percussion Group and have also become a focal point for welcoming guests in Kaadaadaan Village.
