Dingzhuang Community Introduction
Dingzhuang Village in Chiayi City has successfully transformed its environmental ecology over the years, converting the old Taiwan Sugar Corporation railway into a community bicycle path. On both sides of the path, the wax trees are home to groups of stag beetles, providing an astonishing sight! The recovery of stag beetles is not easy; however, the Dingzhuang community has improved water quality, the environment, planted wax trees, and established bicycle paths to create a suitable living environment, bringing the stag beetles back. Every year in mid-May, stag beetles emerge from the soil to find mates and reproduce. Hundreds of stag beetles can be found on the wax trees, striking various poses and even engaging in battles, creating a surprising spectacle. Stag beetles are known as "iron-armored warriors," and the "Search for Stag Beetle Tracks" event welcomes the public to join from mid-May to the end of June each year, allowing families to connect with nature and reminisce about childhood memories. It is also worth mentioning that in 2017, the Chiayi City Government held the "1st Golden Farmer Competition," and Dingzhuang Community won the top prize, being selected as the Golden Farmer.
