Qi Feng Ju (Li Qi Feng Ancestral House) Introduction
Located in the Jinshan District of New Taipei City, the Li Qifeng Ancient Residence, a Holo-style courtyard house with approximately 200 years of history, is the most well-preserved and magnificent example of Holo architecture in the North Coast area. It is said that the owner of Qifeng Residence, Li Bu, immigrated from Zhangzhou to Taiwan in 1802, starting from scratch and becoming a wealthy landowner, known as the richest and most prominent family in the Jinbaoli area at the time. Upon entering Qifeng Residence, you are greeted by a half-moon pond in front and an orchard behind; the feng shui design seeking wealth and prosperity is fully manifested in this ancient house. According to Qing Dynasty customs, ordinary people's houses were not allowed to have curved eaves, and only officials or those who passed the imperial examinations had the right to construct roofs with decorative finials. However, Qifeng Residence features a splendid ridge with decorative finials, highlighting the owner's power and achievements. The cut and paste decorations on the ridge are also quite exquisite. Currently, Qifeng Residence is still inhabited, and visitors are welcome to explore as long as they do not disturb the residents.
