Qifeng Residence (Li Qifeng Historical House) Introduction
Located in Jinshan District, New Taipei City, the Li Qifeng Ancient Residence is a Min Nan-style Sanheyuan with approximately 200 years of history. It is the most complete and elegant example of Min Nan architecture in the North Coast region. It is said that the owner of Qifengju, Li Bu, immigrated from Zhangzhou in 1802 to cultivate land in Taiwan, starting from scratch and becoming affluent, regarded as one of the wealthiest and most prestigious individuals in the Jinbaoli area at that time. Upon entering Qifengju, one finds a semi-circular pond in the front and an orchard in the back; the feng shui design aimed at wealth and prosperity is evident throughout this ancient residence. According to the customs of the Qing Dynasty, common people's houses were not allowed to have upturned eaves, and only officials or families who passed the imperial examination could build roofs adorned with upturned designs. However, Qifengju possesses a splendid eave ridge, indicating the owner's power and achievements. The cut and paste decorations on the roof are also quite meticulous. The residence is still inhabited today, and visitors are welcome to explore as long as they do not disturb the residents.
