Tai Ping Palace Introduction
Located in the Ankang community on the west bank of Bitan, the "Taiping Temple" is adjacent to the Taiping Movement Park and the Air Force Memorial Cemetery. After turning left at the Bitan Bridge, you can reach it by going about 50 meters along Taiping Road. The temple, built in the traditional Minnan architectural style, enshrines the main deity "Kaizhang Shengwang." Established in the twelfth year of the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty, it has a history of about 200 years. Throughout this period, the temple has undergone numerous renovations due to wars, natural disasters, and pest damage. Today's Taiping Temple stands magnificently. Nestled on the slopes of Dapingding Mountain in Bitan, Taiping Temple is one of the oldest temples in Xindian and is a notable and representative temple among the hundreds in Taiwan dedicated to Kaizhang Shengwang. With a thriving incense offering, it has long been the center of beliefs for the residents of Wuzhang Village in Ankang, hosting grand temple fairs every year in the second month of the lunar calendar. The temple preserves the three treasures from the Tongzhi period—an incense burner, an offering table, and wooden door couplets—which are extremely precious.
