Tai Ping Temple Introduction
Tai Ping Temple, located in the An Keng community on the west bank of Bitan, is adjacent to the Tai Ping Movement Park and the Air Force Memorial Cemetery. It can be reached by turning left after crossing the Bitan Bridge and going about 50 meters along Tai Ping Road. The traditional Minnan architecture enshrines the main deity, King Kái-chhiong. Established in the twelfth year of the Jiaqing era during the Qing Dynasty, the temple has a history of over 200 years. It has undergone several reconstructions due to war, natural disasters, or termite damage. Today's Tai Ping Temple is quite magnificent. Nestled on the hillside of Dapingding Mountain at Bitan, it is one of the oldest temples in Xindian and a significant and representative temple among the many in Taiwan that worship King Kái-chhiong. The temple has been a center of faith for the residents of Wuzhang Village in An Keng for a long time, with vibrant incense offerings, and the temple fair in the second month of the lunar calendar is spectacular every year. The temple retains the three treasures of the temple from the Tongzhi era: the incense burner, offering table, and wooden door couplets, which are incredibly precious.
