Bitan Suspension Bridge Introduction
Bitan Suspension Bridge is located in the middle reaches of the Xindian River. It was constructed in 1937 and features a double-tower, double-jointed single-span suspension design. The bridge is 186.6 meters long and 3.5 meters wide, with an elevation of 30 meters, capable of accommodating approximately 1,000 people, making it a well-known tourist attraction in the Xindian District. The river's clear blue water gives Bitan its name. In earlier times, ferry boats were the main means of crossing the river, but after the completion of the Bitan Suspension Bridge, it became an important bridge connecting Zhonghe and Xindian. With its beautiful and unique design, it has become a focal point of the Bitan Scenic Area and a landmark of the Xindian District. Bitan Suspension Bridge, which was opened in 1937, is a signature spot in Xindian. This 200-meter suspension bridge carries many sweet memories for visitors. In reality, there is more than one bridge in Bitan. Due to the erosion of the suspension bridge's cables over the years, a concrete bridge, Bitan Bridge, was constructed downstream in 1956, and another large arch bridge was added in 1997 with the opening of the North 2nd Highway. Thus, Bitan now has three bridges from different eras, creating a unique landscape. This bridge is known as "the first musical light sculpture suspension bridge in Taiwan," featuring a total of 17,472 LED lights. The magnificent lights reflected in the riverside enhance the enchanting moonlit scenery of Bitan. The night at Bitan becomes increasingly beautiful! At night, the Bitan Suspension Bridge is adorned with colorful lights, resembling a rainbow arching over the water, and has become the top choice for couples seeking a romantic date spot to enjoy the picturesque mountain and lake views together.
