ASEAN Square Introduction
Asean Plaza (formerly known as First Plaza), located near Taichung Railway Station on Xigang West Street, is a 13-story comprehensive leisure and entertainment plaza surrounded by Taiwan Boulevard Section 1, Jiguang Street, Chenggong Road, and Xigang West Street. It is situated in the commercial area in front of Taichung Station and features a basement parking lot, boutique clothing and accessory shops, a gourmet street, a cinema (First Cinema), KTV, an arcade, a billiard club, a bowling alley, and an ice skating rink, along with a folk music Western restaurant, making it a popular recreational spot for teenagers and migrant workers. It is in close proximity to Taichung Station, Taichung Park, and Taichung Prefectural Hall, and due to the concentration of Southeast Asian shops, it is now nicknamed "Little Southeast Asia in Taichung." The area surrounding Asean Plaza features a variety of streets, including Electronic Street, Jiguang Street, and the historic Herbal Street on Chenggong Road.
