ASEAN Square Introduction
ASEAN Square (formerly known as First Square) is located near Taichung Railway Station on Xijie Street. Standing at 13 stories tall, it is a comprehensive leisure and entertainment plaza surrounded by Section 1 of Taiwan Boulevard, Jiguang Street, Chenggong Road, and Xijie Street. Situated in the shopping district in front of Taichung Station, it features an underground parking lot, boutique clothing stores, a food court, a cinema (First Cinema), KTV, an arcade, a billiards club, a bowling alley, an ice skating rink, and a folk music Western restaurant, making it a popular leisure destination for teenagers and migrant workers. It is close to Taichung Station, Taichung Park, and the Taichung Prefectural Hall, and has earned the nickname "Little Southeast Asia of Taichung" due to the concentration of Southeast Asian shops. The area around ASEAN Square features a variety of streets, including Electronics Street, Jiguang Street, and the traditional "Herb Street" on Chenggong Road. Herb Street was originally part of ASEAN Square, but since the First Market was tragically destroyed by fire and transformed into ASEAN Square, Herb Street has retained its original appearance, with its narrow and chaotic alleys contrasting sharply with the redesigned ASEAN Square.
