Miyahara Eye Clinic Introduction
Constructed in 1927, Miyahara Eye Hospital was built by Japanese ophthalmologist Dr. Takekuma Miyahara and was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. After Japan's defeat in 1945, Dr. Miyahara returned to Japan, and the Miyahara Eye Hospital became the Taichung Health Center. However, over time, the aging health center gradually fell into disrepair and became an abandoned ruin overgrown with weeds after the 921 Earthquake. It wasn’t until the "Sunrise" team spent a year and a half combining the efforts of two architects and a historic restoration expert to create the modern Miyahara. Preserving an old building with historical significance is a challenging task, but through the ingenuity and hard work of the "Sunrise" team, Taichung's Miyahara not only retains the essence of the old house but also evokes a sense of historical emotion after renovation, making it a breathtaking architectural marvel. The skylights bring natural light into the space, creating a beautiful ambiance; the interior decor is quite impressive, with high ceilings reminiscent of scenes from Hogwarts in Harry Potter, and wooden bookshelves and cabinets create a unique aesthetic appeal. Retro-packaged pastries are the most popular souvenirs, featuring exquisite packaging and delicious treats, perfect for both gifting and self-enjoyment! When visiting Miyahara, you must not miss their signature ice cream, available in various flavors crafted with exclusive recipes. If you think the unique flavors are exceptional, just wait until you see the toppings: whole pineapple cakes, cheesecake, almond snowballs, and more make up a never-before-seen variety of ice cream at Miyahara! When in Taichung, how could you miss visiting Miyahara to eat and explore?! Recommended attractions around Miyahara:
