Miyahara Eye Hospital Introduction
Constructed in 1927, Miyahara Ophthalmology was founded by Japanese ophthalmologist Takekuma Miyahara and was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. After Japan's defeat in 1945, Miyahara returned to Japan, and the clinic became the Taichung Health Institute. However, over time, the old and dilapidated health institute gradually turned into a dangerous building, eventually becoming a wild overgrown ruin after the 921 earthquake. It wasn't until the "Sunrise" operating team, along with two architects and a historic preservation doctor, spent a year and a half to transform it into the modernized Sunrise Miyahara. Preserving the historic old building is no easy task, but thanks to the ingenuity and efforts of the "Sunrise" team, Taichung Miyahara not only retains the atmosphere of the old house but also evokes a sense of history after the renovation, making it a truly stunning architectural site. The translucent glass ceiling brings in natural light, creating a beautiful ambiance as sunlight pours into the interior. The decor is quite impressive, with high ceilings reminiscent of scenes from the Hogwarts School in Harry Potter, and the wooden bookshelves and cabinets create a unique aesthetic charm. The retro-packaged pastries are the most popular souvenirs, featuring exquisite packaging and delicious snacks, making them perfect for gifting or personal enjoyment! When visiting Miyahara, you must not miss their signature ice cream, available in various unique flavors. If you think the flavors are special, you're underestimating Miyahara; the toppings next to the ice cream are astonishing as well, including whole pineapple cakes, cheesecake, almond balls, and more—an unprecedented variety of ice cream awaits you at Miyahara! How can you visit Taichung without stopping by Miyahara for a bite and a stroll?! Recommended attractions near Miyahara:
