Miyahara Introduction
Established in 1927, Miyahara Eye Clinic was built by Japanese ophthalmologist Dr. Takekuma Miyahara and was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. After Japan's defeat in 1945, Dr. Miyahara returned to Japan, and the clinic became the Taichung Health Center. However, as time passed, the old and dilapidated health center gradually became a dangerous building and turned into a weed-infested ruin after the 921 earthquake. It wasn't until the "Rising Sun" team, which spent a year and a half on the project, collaborated with two architects and a historical restoration doctor to create the modern-day Miyahara Eye Clinic. Preserving a historic building is no easy task, but thanks to the ingenuity and effort of the "Rising Sun" team, the Taichung Miyahara Eye Clinic not only retains the charm of the old building but also allows visitors to feel the emotional weight of its history after renovations. It is truly a breathtaking structure, with translucent glass ceilings that naturally draw in light, illuminating the interior beautifully. The decor inside is also quite impressive, with high designs reminiscent of scenes from Hogwarts in Harry Potter, and wooden bookshelves and cabinets that create a unique aesthetic beauty. The retro-packaged pastries are the most popular souvenirs, beautifully wrapped and delicious, making them perfect for both gifting and personal enjoyment! When visiting Miyahara Eye Clinic, don't miss out on the signature ice cream, uniquely crafted in various flavors. If you think it's just the flavors that impress, think again; the toppings beside the ice cream are equally astonishing, featuring full pieces of pineapple cake, cheesecake, almond snowballs, and more—unprecedented rich ice cream awaits you at Miyahara! How can one go to Taichung without visiting Miyahara Eye Clinic to eat and explore?! Recommended attractions around Miyahara Eye Clinic:
