Miyahara Eye Clinic Introduction
Established in 1927, Miyahara was built by Japanese ophthalmologist Dr. Takekuma Miyahara and was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. After Japan's defeat in 1945, Dr. Miyahara returned to Japan, and Miyahara became the Taichung Health Center. However, with the passage of time, the aging health center gradually fell into disrepair and became a dangerous building, ultimately turning into a weed-infested ruin after the 921 earthquake. It wasn't until the "Sunrise" management team spent a year and a half, collaborating with two architects and a heritage restoration expert, that the modernized Sunrise Miyahara was created. Preserving a historic old building is no easy task, but thanks to the ingenuity and effort of the "Sunrise" team, Taichung's Miyahara not only retains the aura of the old house but also evokes historical emotions after renovation, making it a breathtaking architectural masterpiece. The transparent glass ceiling naturally brings in light, and the sunlight pouring into the space is truly beautiful. The interior decor is quite impressive, with high ceilings reminiscent of scenes from Hogwarts in Harry Potter, and wooden bookshelves and cabinets create a unique aesthetic. The retro-packaged pastries are the most popular souvenirs, offering beautifully packaged and delicious snacks, perfect for both gifting and personal enjoyment! When visiting Miyahara, be sure not to miss their signature ice cream, available in a variety of exclusive flavors. If you think the unique flavors are all that Miyahara has to offer, you are underestimating it—the toppings next to the ice cream are equally surprising, featuring whole pineapple cakes, cheesecake, almond snowballs, and more. You'll find a rich assortment of ice cream at Miyahara that you've never seen before! When in Taichung, how could you not stop by Miyahara to eat and explore?!
