The Central District Green River, originally named "Xinsheng Creek," was renamed in 1912. It was a highlight river in Taichung's "Little Kyoto" project during the Japanese colonial period. The small Xinsheng Bridge (now known as the Zhongshan Green Bridge) was one of the eight night views in Taichung at that time.

Green River Waterfront Corridor Introduction

The Luquan New Sheng Bridge prioritizes water quality and flood control, breaking away from traditional waterfront landscape renewal methods. It aims to create an ecological habitat while combining low-impact development in the environment, establishing a new image of the water gateway at Taichung Railway Station. The Luquan waterfront focuses on natural and artistic presentations, incorporating public art and utilizing water elements to create a diverse and creative artistic movement space that integrates the varied flavors of Southeast Asia. By connecting historical buildings such as Gong Yuan Eye Clinic, Zhongshan Green Bridge, and Cherry Blossom Bridge Ruins, it cultivates a culturally rich riverside landscape that shapes a humanistic atmosphere. It retains memories of the shady riverside of the past, utilizing Taiwan's native tree species and hanging shore plants to present a unique waterway space, constructing a new green path along the Luquan River. Visitors can also explore the Luquan Water Culture and Environmental Education Center nearby, which showcases the historical significance of Luquan through exhibits, documentaries, old photographs, and surrounding models, allowing the public to gain a deeper understanding of Luquan.
