The Central Green River, originally named "Xinsheng River," was renamed in 1912. It was a highlight river in the "Little Kyoto" plan for Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. The small Xinsheng Bridge (now Zhongshan Green Bridge) was one of the eight night scenery spots in Taichung at that time.

Green River Waterfront Corridor Introduction

Luxiang New Sheng Bridge prioritizes water quality and flood prevention, breaking away from traditional waterfront landscape renovation methods. It aims to create an ecological habitat that combines low-impact development, shaping the new image of the Taichung Railway Station waterfront. The Luqiao waterfront emphasizes nature and artistic expression, incorporating public art and water elements to create a diverse and creative arts space, blending various ASEAN cultural influences. Together with historic buildings like Miyahara Ophthalmology and Zhongshan Green Bridge, as well as the Cherry Blossom Bridge ruins, it cultivates a culturally rich riverside landscape that shapes a humanistic waterfront atmosphere. It recalls memories of once-green riverside shade, showcasing unique waterways with Taiwan's native tree species and overhanging protective plants, while constructing a new green tree-lined path along the Luqiao. Nearby, visitors can also explore the Luqiao Water Culture and Environmental Education Center, which exhibits historical materials related to Luqiao, documentary screenings, old photographs, and surrounding models, allowing the public to gain a deeper understanding of Luqiao.
