The Central District Green River, originally named "Xinsheng Stream," was renamed in 1912. It was a highlight river in Taichung's "Little Kyoto" project during the Japanese colonial period. The small Xinsheng Bridge (now known as Zhongshan Green Bridge) was one of the eight famous night views in Taichung at that time.

Green River Waterfront Corridor Introduction

The Luxia New Sheng Bridge prioritizes water quality and flood prevention, breaking away from traditional waterfront landscape rehabilitation methods. It aims to create an ecological habitat that integrates low-impact development, establishing a new image for the Taichung Train Station waterfront. The Luxia waterfront focuses on nature and artistic expression, incorporating public art and water elements to create diverse and creative artistic spaces while blending various Southeast Asian cultures. By combining historical buildings such as Miyahara Ophthalmology and the Zhongshan Green Bridge, along with the Sakura Bridge ruins, it cultivates a culturally rich riverside landscape that shapes the atmosphere of a humanistic waterfront space. Recalling the memories of the shaded banks of yesteryear, it presents a unique waterway space through Taiwan's native tree species and hanging riparian plants, constructing a new green riverside pathway. Visitors can also explore the Luxia Water Culture and Environmental Education Center, which showcases the historical context of Luxia, screenings of documentaries, old photographs of Luxia, and surrounding models, allowing the public to gain a deeper understanding of Luxia.
