The characteristic feature of Trail No. 8 is its gradual incline. The first half of the trail is an artisanal road, while the middle section features an acacia wooden path. Aside from being slightly steep near the Wind Moving Stone, the rest of the trail is as easy as walking on flat ground. Most visitors typically start from Trail No. 6 to the Wind Moving Stone and then return down this path to the trailhead. The return journey from the Wind Moving Stone to the trailhead takes about 40 minutes, and it takes approximately 20 minutes to walk back from the trailhead to the parking lot of Trail No. 6.

Dakeng No. 8 Trail Introduction

Dagang Scenic Area is an important leisure place for the residents of Taichung City, serving as a space for mental relaxation and a popular destination for hikers and fitness enthusiasts. It is a favorite tourist attraction in central Taiwan, where one can frequently see families and groups of friends enjoying the scenery together, making it a shared backyard for the citizens of Taichung. The most distinctive feature of the area is the 13 hiking trails. Trails 1 to 8 were established in early 1981, constructed based on the natural topography where Dagang Mountain and streams intertwine, with the highest elevation reaching 859 meters at the summit of Touke Mountain. Trail 9 was opened in December 2005, Trail 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail 9-1 was finished in November 2013. Trail 8 is approximately 0.95 kilometers long, suitable for people of all ages, making it an ideal choice for family outings. The trail entrance is not very conspicuous, and it can be accessed via an industrial road approximately 800 meters into Jiancheng Lane. Features: Along this trail, orchards are plentiful, enticing hikers to stop and enjoy the views. The endpoint leads to Wind-moving Stone Park, which has several pavilions, providing the public a wonderful place to rest. Transportation Methods:Taichung Bus (Taichung Station 04-22224102): Routes 15 and 16 (boarding at Green River East Station) can also reach Chung Tai University; additionally, at the intersection of Dongshan Road and Songzhu Road, you can catch Taichung Bus Route 66 (Route 66 will loop around Dakeng). 2. Renyou Bus (04-22255166): Routes 1, 20, 21, and 31 (boarding at Green River East Station, it is recommended to take Renyou as they have more buses). 3. Fengyuan Bus (Taichung North Station 04-22223435): Bus routes heading towards Zhongxingling, Xinshe, and Dongshi.


Remarks:1. It is recommended that the elderly and those with hypertension avoid climbing the Dakeng Trails No. 1 to 5 and No. 5-1. 2. The Dakeng Trail No. 4 has a significant elevation change, featuring a steep vertical slope of 300 meters. 3. Generally speaking, the Dakeng Trails No. 6, 7, 8, 9, and No. 9-1 are more suitable for both men and women.
