Dakeng Scenic Area - Hiking Trail Guide Dakeng Scenic Area is an important leisure spot for the citizens of Taichung, a place for hikers to exercise and enjoy nature, and a popular tourist destination in central Taiwan. On regular days or holidays, you can often see groups of friends and families enjoying the scenery together, making it a shared backyard for the people of Taichung. The most distinctive features of the area are the 14 hiking trails. Trails No. 1 to 8 were opened in the early 1980s, constructed according to the natural topography where Dakeng Mountain meets the streams, with the highest point being 859 meters at Touke Mountain. Trail No. 9 was opened in December 2005, Trail No. 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail No. 9-1 was completed in November 2013. Trail No. 8 has a length of approximately 0.95 kilometers, suitable for people of all ages and families. The trailhead is not very conspicuous, accessed via an industrial road for about 800 meters from Jiancheng Lane. Features: This trail is lined with orchards, making it tempting for hikers to stop and enjoy the view, and it leads to Fengdongshi Park, which has several pavilions providing a great resting place for the public.
