Liou Hsiu-tsai's Ancestral House Introduction
This ancient house belongs to the Liu family's ancestral home, covering an area of over a thousand ping for the land alone. The family has more than 70 houses in this location. To honor their ancestors' devotion to the country and their filial piety, the descendants of the Liu family specially hung Liu Ding-Shan's sabre, used for pacifying the native people, and a portrait of him in the hall, allowing visitors to admire this outstanding individual who devoted his life to the nation, its people, and education. Located in the Waipu District, the Liu Scholar's Ancient House is a significant structure, spanning over a thousand ping. The Liu family was a major landholder back in the day. Liu Ding-Shan established his foundations here and diligently cared for the education of the Liu descendants. The descendants appreciate their ancestors' loyalty and devotion to the country, thus honoring them by displaying Liu Ding-Shan's sabre and portrait in the hall for future generations to admire this remarkable individual who contributed significantly to the nation and education. This is a standard traditional Chinese three-section courtyard style building, which is a must-visit for history and photography enthusiasts.
