Liou Hsiu Tsai Historical House Introduction
The ancient residence, known as the Liu Family Ancestral Hall, spans over a thousand ping in area. The Liu family has over 70 houses in this ancestral home. To honor their ancestors' loyalty and filial piety to the country, as well as to promote education, the descendants of the Liu family have displayed Liu Ding-shan's Dadao (a type of sword) used to pacify Indigenous people and a portrait of him in the main hall. This serves as a tribute to this remarkable individual who dedicated his life to the nation, its people, and education. Located in the Waipu District, the Liu Scholar's Ancient Residence is part of the Liu family ancestral complex, covering an extensive area of over one thousand ping. The Liu family was known as prominent landowners in their time, with the ancestral home comprising more than 70 structures. Liu Ding-shan established his foundation here and devoted himself to educating and nurturing future generations of the Liu family. To remember his contributions, the family prominently displays the Dadao and a portrait in the hall, allowing future generations to admire this excellent figure who dedicated his life for the country, its people, and education. This traditional Chinese-style Sanheyuan (a three-sided courtyard house) is a must-visit for history and photography enthusiasts. Visitors can also learn about the lives of Taiwan's early high-ranking officials and the significance of each architectural corner.
