Fo Guang Shan Introduction
Fo Guang Shan Temple is located at the northern end of Dashi District, built by Master Hsing Yun and his disciples in 1967, covering over fifty hectares. Along with the newly constructed Buddha Memorial Center in 2011, it stretches along the right bank of the Gaoping River. The various Buddha halls are arranged according to the terrain, creating a solemn and magnificent atmosphere, making it an important Buddhist site in Taiwan. Fo Guang Shan features four main hall-style buildings and tens of thousands of statues, with institutions for education, healthcare, and art, all aimed at promoting Humanistic Buddhism and building a Pure Land on Earth. It integrates the development of Dharma propagation, education, charity, culture, and pilgrimage into a modern temple. Fo Guang Shan provides a multi-faceted environment for devotees to worship and engage in Buddhist education, and it is also a popular pilgrimage and leisure destination for tourists. Particularly at sunset, the Great Buddha and palace-style temples bathed in twilight create a scene of grandeur, allowing visitors to forget worldly troubles. During the Lunar New Year to the Lantern Festival, the mountain is adorned with thousands of lanterns, becoming even more dazzling and beautiful at night. ▶ Learn more about Dashi District accommodations.
