Chengqing Lake Scenic Area Introduction

Located in Niaosong District, Chengqing Lake covers a vast area and was originally an irrigation pond of the Caogong Canal. It is the largest lake in Kaohsiung City, famous for its attractions including Sanqiao, Liusheng, and Bajing. The park features a 7-kilometer lakeside trail and a youth activity center, providing an excellent venue for tourists to experience camping and engage in various outdoor sports and games. Walking along the lakeside route, visitors can admire the pavilions and structures scattered along the path, while the ecologically rich park attracts transient waterbirds, offering a perfect destination for birdwatching and enjoying a peaceful leisure retreat. One of the scenic spots, Sanqiao, features the 230-meter-long Jiuqu Bridge, which, with its beautifully winding structure, adds rich layers to the scenery of Chengqing Lake. As travelers stroll along the bridge, enjoying the lake and mountain views, the pristine white bridge reflects on the emerald waters, becoming the most charming sight of Chengqing Lake. Especially during the full moon, the shimmering moonlight reflecting on the rippling water earns it the nickname "Moon Fishing on Curved Bridge," one of the eight scenic views. From the Zhongxing Tower, one can overlook the urban landscape. Following the walkway, one can often spot the prominent Chinese-style high tower. Zhongxing Tower, the tallest structure in Chengqing Lake, features a white tower body with a red arch top, standing proudly among the greenery at seven stories high. Within the tower, there are 169 steps of a double spiral stone staircase. Climbing high offers stunning views of the lake area and glimpses of the urban skyline, where the harbor scenery of Kaohsiung can be faintly seen. The Maze Garden won the 2022 Landscape Architecture Yuan Ye Award, recognized as the largest ecological maze garden in Taiwan. Viewed from above, it is shaped like a pair of mandarin ducks symbolizing love. The interior is equipped with various parent-child adventure facilities, making it a popular choice for family travel. The Hobbit House, inspired by the movie "The Lord of the Rings," provides a dreamy fairy tale experience without having to travel abroad. Additionally, there is a vibrant pipe maze composed of large drainage pipes standing 120 centimeters high, where children can transform into characters from video games like Super Mario and freely explore within the pipes. Surrounding the pipes is a spacious green area designed for relaxation and dining, allowing close proximity to nature, where children can have fun on pebble slides and grassy areas.
