Chengqing Lake Scenic Area Introduction
Chengqing Lake, located in Niaosong District, covers a large area and was originally an irrigation pond for the Caogong Canal. It is the largest lake in Kaohsiung City, famous for its scenic spots: Sanqiao, Liusheng, and Bajing. The park features a 7-kilometer lakeside walking trail and a youth activity center, providing travelers with an excellent venue for camping and engaging in various outdoor sports and games. Walking along the lakeside route, visitors can enjoy the pavilions and structures dotting the landscape. The ecologically rich park attracts migratory water birds, making it a great place for birdwatching and enjoying a picturesque, tranquil retreat. One of the famous sights at Sanqiao is the Jiuchuqiao (Nine Curves Bridge). This 230-meter-long bridge, with its intricate, winding design, adds beautiful layers to the scenery of Chengqing Lake. As travelers stroll along the bridge enjoying the lake and mountain views, the bridge's white structure reflects on the emerald waters, making it the most charming sight of Chengqing Lake. Especially during the full moon, the beautiful moonlight reflected on the shimmering lake has earned it the reputation of being one of the Eight Scenic Views, known as "Curved Bridge Fishing for the Moon." From the Zhongxing Tower, visitors can overlook the urban landscape while walking along the trail, where the prominent Chinese-style high tower stands out. As the tallest structure in Chengqing Lake, Zhongxing Tower features a white body and a red arch dome, towering at seven stories. Inside, there are 169 steps of a double-spiral stone staircase, offering a panoramic view of the beautiful lake area and the cityscape, including glimpses of the harbor at Kaohsiung Port. The Maze Garden, recognized with the 2022 Landscape Architecture Award, is the largest ecological maze garden in Taiwan. Viewed from above, it resembles a pair of mandarin ducks in a heart shape. The interior features various parent-child adventure facilities, making it a popular choice for family travel. Inspired by the film "The Lord of the Rings," the Hobbit House offers a fairy-tale scene that's perfect for visitors without needing to travel abroad. There is also a colorful tube maze made from giant drainage pipes, reaching a height of 120 centimeters, where kids can feel like they’re characters in a video game, freely exploring the tubes. Surrounding the tubes, vast green spaces are designed for relaxation and dining, bringing visitors closer to nature, while children can play on pebble slides and grassy areas.
