Chating Old Trail Introduction
In the past, Dashanbei was the only passage for ancestors to transport agricultural products to the urban area of Hengshan Township. Life in the remote mountainous area was tough and making a living was difficult. There is a Hakka folk song that sings: "If you have a sister, don't marry Dashanbei; uphill it's a dead end, downhill it's hard to carry." This implies the hardship of carrying burdens back and forth on the old trail in the past.
