Gaoping Tomato Farm Introduction
Located on County Road 118 at 20.8 kilometers in Hsinchu County, near Xinpu and Guanxi, Gaoping Tomato Farm specializes in selecting various new varieties of delicious and healthy first-class agricultural products such as tomatoes and bell peppers. It is a certified planting area through the Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) certification, providing freshly picked fruits that assure quality for visitors. To facilitate fruit-picking, the farm operates in two locations: Gaoping First Farm (originally Gaoping Agricultural Garden, currently open only on weekends) is situated in Datong Village, Guanxi Township, about 2 kilometers from the Guanxi Interchange toward Xinpu, located on the right side of the uneven ground, covering an area of about 0.1 hectares; Gaoping Second Farm (open daily during the harvest season) is located in Shiguang Village, Guanxi Township (at 19.8 kilometers on County Road 118), which is significantly larger than the First Farm. The tomatoes and colorful bell peppers from both farms are in season from October each year to May the following year, priced by weight. Visitors picking fruits on weekdays are encouraged to visit the newly established Gaoping Second Farm, where they can enjoy a more spacious picking area and innovative facilities. Among the fruits, the favorite varieties for visitors are the large and beautiful Momotaro tomatoes, as well as red and yellow cherry tomatoes, which are all exceptionally sweet and delicious. They employ soil-based cultivation in a greenhouse, specially using imported soil from the Netherlands for planting; this soil needs to be replaced annually, incurring higher costs and more complex cultivation methods. Even during non-harvest seasons, various horticultural management tasks must be conducted, such as soil environment maintenance and cleaning. This meticulous approach ensures that the tomatoes cultivated surpass the quality of traditionally grown tomatoes, enhancing the quality assurance of the produce further. The fresh fruits are not only juicy and tasty but also promote healthier and more natural eating. Additionally, the farm provides tasting samples in the store for visitors, as well as a telephone ordering delivery service, and has added a section for the sale of agricultural specialties, DIY painting activities, and traditional rice cake making, among a series of family-friendly activities. Whether it's the operation of the farm or the recreational content, a visit to experience is highly recommended. The orchard uses greenhouse cultivation methods, growing many different varieties of delicious, safe, and healthy tomatoes, along with colored bell peppers, corn, cucumbers, and seasonal vegetables, delivering the freshest tastes directly from the farm. The joy of hand-picking tomatoes is a perfect activity for families to participate in together. Experience activities: In addition to picking tomatoes, the farm also offers DIY tomato doll painting, Hakka pounded tea, and rice cake making. Prices include freshly picked tomatoes: 60 to 100 NTD per jin; painting DIY: 100 to 200 NTD; pounded tea: 150 NTD per serving; and rice cake DIY: 130 NTD per serving.
