Guanxi Township Farmers' Association Grass Jelly Factory Introduction
In recent years, Guanxi Township, famous for its grass jelly, has allowed the gradually declining agricultural production to find a unique second spring. Currently, grass jelly is cultivated in Guanxi Township and Chiu-lin Township in Hsinchu County, as well as in Tongluo and Sanyi in Miaoli County, Xinwu Township in Taoyuan City, and Fenglin Township in Hualien County. Grass jelly is a native plant of Taiwan, resembling small, green mint leaves with a slight fuzz. The planting season begins in March to April each year, with harvest occurring in September to October. However, Guanxi Township has the largest cultivation area, and, with guidance from the Taoyuan Agricultural Improvement Station on processing techniques, several grass jelly products have been developed.
