Kansai Township Farmer's Association Grass Jelly Factory Introduction
In recent years, Guanxi Township, known for its grass jelly, has found a second spring for its gradually declining agricultural production by showcasing its most distinctive feature. Currently, grass jelly is cultivated in Guanxi Township and Xianglin Township in Hsinchu County, as well as in Tongluo, Sanyi in Miaoli County, Xinwu Township in Taoyuan City, and Fenglin Township in Hualien County. Grass jelly is a small, velvet-textured native plant of Taiwan that resembles mint leaves. It is planted from March to April each year and harvested when it matures in September to October of the same year. However, Guanxi Township has the largest cultivation area, and with the guidance of the Taoyuan Agricultural Improvement Station, improvements in processing techniques have led to the development of various grass jelly products.
