Shih-liao Leisure Agriculture Area Introduction
Shwelve Liao Leisure Farm in Emei Township, Hsinchu County is located within the Shitoushan National Scenic Area. Surrounding the farm are the Maple Forest Trail, parking lots, lakeside cycling roads, and the phytoncide health trail. The farm's owner, Mr. Huang, was previously involved in the manufacturing industry, and he began managing the leisure farm following his father’s agricultural production and marketing classes. After returning home six years ago and gaining experience, he shifted the farm’s operations towards leisure agriculture at the end of 2001, evolving from mass production to refined agriculture, with a focus on small-scale and diversified cultivation. Throughout the seasons, visitors can enjoy picking various fruits and vegetables, and the unique agricultural leisure activities provide a fresh experience for urban dwellers, making it an ideal spot for group relaxation. The name Shwelve Liao comes from the 12th camphor oil processing site during the Japanese occupation. Within the area, there are about 40 businesses and around 10 bike rental shops, with a total of around 800 to 900 bicycles available. Cyclists can navigate through ponds, reservoirs, suspension bridges, and paths, making it a top choice for cycling enthusiasts due to the rich terrain and landscape. Along the banks of Emei Lake, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains and lakes accompanied by well-planned cycling routes. Travelers to Shwelve Liao are recommended to explore the Shwelve Liao hiking trail first. In the mornings, this area is vibrant with various insects, butterflies, and birds, presenting an opportunity for an ecological journey; this gentle and well-maintained leisure trail is suitable for visitors of all ages.
