Shih-Chen Liao Leisure Agricultural Area Introduction
The "Shih-er-Liao Leisure Farm" located in Emei Township, Hsinchu County, is situated within the Shitoushan National Scenic Area. Surrounding the farm are various attractions, including the Maple Forest Trail, parking lots, a cycling path around the lake, and the Phytoncide Health Trail. The farm's owner, Mr. Huang, originally engaged in manufacturing but transitioned to running the leisure farm after following in his father's footsteps starting from an agricultural production class. After returning home and gaining experience over six years, he shifted the farm's operations from mass production to refined agriculture at the end of 2001. The farm now focuses on diverse and small-scale cultivation, allowing visitors to enjoy picking various seasonal fruits and vegetables. The unique recreational agricultural activities provide a brand new experience for urban dwellers and make it an ideal destination for group leisure. Shih-er-Liao is named after the 12th distillation of camphor oil during the Japanese occupation. There are about 40 businesses in the area and around 10 bicycle rental shops, boasting a total of approximately 800 to 900 bicycles. Cyclists can navigate through ponds, reservoirs, suspension bridges, and trails, making it a top choice for biking enthusiasts due to the diverse terrain. Along the shores of Emei Lake, visitors can enjoy breathtaking mountain and lake views, as well as well-planned cycling routes. Travelers coming to Shih-er-Liao are recommended to first explore the Shih-er-Liao Hiking Trail, where in the morning, they can encounter various insects, butterflies, and birds, offering an opportunity for an ecological journey. This gently sloped and well-maintained leisure trail is suitable for travelers of all ages.
