Measuring Water Room Introduction

The measuring chamber is a rectangular brick and reinforced concrete structure, used for measuring the outflow of the small Guanyin Mountain reservoir. The original construction date and design are unknown due to lost documents; however, research into property registration records indicates that the measuring chamber was completed in March 1913 (the second year of the Republic of China). It was retired after the completion of the Gongguan Water Purification Plant in 1977. The building was excavated downward to meet functional needs, with decorative grooves carved into the surface, and exposed red brick in the corners. The windows and window frames of the measuring chamber are semicircular at the top and square at the bottom. This building is presumed to have been constructed after the completion of the main Taipei waterway project, yet it still shows an overall planned design in relation to other architectural facilities.
