Dapeng Bay International Leisure Area Introduction
Dapeng Bay was a military seaplane base during the Japanese colonial period, bearing historical traces of the Kamikaze pilots of the Japanese army. Over different periods, it has been known by various names, from Biexing Harbor, Nanping Harbor, and Datang to the final designation of Dapeng Bay, each with its unique significance. Since 2004, the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration, under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, has entrusted the management and development of Dapeng Bay to the private sector. The Dapeng Bay International Development Co., Ltd. is responsible for the comprehensive development of the area, naming the entire development zone as the Dapeng Bay International Leisure Zone, based on the characteristics and vision of Dapeng Bay. With its rich natural resources and historical culture, the development planning encompasses three major themes of land, sea, and air leisure recreation, featuring an expansive area, Taiwan's best coastal base, and an aerial activity zone. These unique natural conditions make Dapeng Bay an unparalleled paradise in Taiwan. Currently, the park includes a variety of tourism resources and experiential activities, such as the first legal light aircraft flight club in the country, offering visitors experiences in light aircraft flying, short-term flying training, and examination preparation. It has been approved by the Civil Aeronautics Administration to conduct point-to-point flights, with the light aircraft flight experiences not limited to the Dapeng Bay airspace but also extending to Pingtung's Saijia Aviation Park. The north-south flight route is approximately 40 kilometers, providing scenic views of mountains, rivers, and pastoral landscapes, allowing aviation enthusiasts to enjoy the sky fully. The leisure zone also features a cycling center around the bay, providing bike rentals to explore the 12-kilometer scenic cycling path. Additionally, there are various rich and interesting water activities, including ecological lake tours, kayaking, windsurfing, and rowing, among other comprehensive activities. The total investment planned by the Dapeng Bay International Development Company is expected to exceed NT$10.34 billion, with a development area of over 257 hectares. The scenic area's construction will be developed in phases, with the first phase having a total investment exceeding NT$2 billion. Ongoing projects include Taiwan's first international G2 racetrack, a go-kart racetrack, international tourist hotels, themed shopping streets, group camping areas, and a cultural and historical museum, with more unique attractions to be revealed in Dapeng Bay.
