Dapeng Bay International Resort Area Introduction
Dapeng Bay was a military seaplane base during the Japanese colonial period, marking the historical traces of the Kamikaze pilots. Throughout different eras, it has been known by various distinctive names, from Biexing Harbor, Nanping Harbor, Datan, to its final name, Dapeng Bay. Since the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications entrusted the management and development of Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area to the private sector in 2004, Dapeng Bay International Development Co., Ltd., responsible for its overall development, has designated the developed area as Dapeng Bay International Leisure Zone, based on its development features and vision. The rich natural resources and cultural history of Dapeng Bay enable the planning of three major themed recreational areas: land, sea, and air, featuring a vast hinterland, Taiwan's best marine base, and an aerial activity zone. These unique natural conditions make Dapeng Bay a one-of-a-kind scenic area in Taiwan. Currently, the park includes diverse tourism resources and experiential activities, such as Taiwan's first legal light aircraft flying club, which offers visitors light aircraft flight experiences, short-term flight training, and certification courses. It has been approved by the Civil Aeronautics Administration for point-to-point flights, and the flying experience is not limited to the airspace of Dapeng Bay but extends to Pingtung Saijia Aviation Park. The north-south flight route is approximately 40 kilometers long, allowing pilots to enjoy breathtaking views of mountains, rivers, and rural landscapes. The leisure zone also features a circular bike center offering bicycle rentals, enabling visitors to explore the scenic 12-kilometer bicycle path around the bay. Additionally, a variety of exciting water activities are available, including ecological lake tours, kayaking, windsurfing, and rowing, among other comprehensive activities. The total investment from Dapeng Bay International Development Co., Ltd. is expected to exceed NT$10.34 billion, with a development area of over 257 hectares, planned to be developed in phases. The first phase involves an investment of over NT$2 billion, currently under construction with various projects, including Taiwan's first international G2 race track, a go-kart racing track, an international tourist hotel, themed shopping streets, group camping areas, and a cultural and historical museum, along with many more attractions that will present Taiwan’s firsts at Dapeng Bay.
